    Shooting a 308 auto ..

What is different from shooting a bolt action rifle to shooting a auto loader. For instance : GAP Crusader vs GAP10. Not specifically these two rifles but this is the contrast in shooting techniques to be good at shooting a auto. I can get it started: A auto loader is typically lighter in...

Whats a clean powder for 45 and 9?

I am currently using Unique and W231 for my 9mm and 45 loads. It is somewhat dirty. I've heard that there are other powders that are considerably cleaner, such as the Accurate 7 and 15 (I think). I haven't tried these, but what are some of the cleaner pistol powders to use in 9 and 45? Tomcat

Almost a ladder test, but a unique way to load dev

What do you think about this approach to developing a load: I load Federal 175 MK, with Varget, Federal brass, Federal 210M primers. I started at 41 grains and increased the charge by .1 grain all the way to 46.6 I used (on the average) 10 shot groups. (yes, this took a while). I graphed...

What speeds do you reload your 175 grain 308?

Sort of a poll - trying to get a target bullet speed decided upon. To what speed do you load your SMK 175 grain, in 308? In my rifle, Federal GMM crono's at about 2700. So that is the speed I load to.

ladder test - how do you keep track

I want to run a ladder test. How do you keep track of what round went where when the target is 500 yds away? Its might tough to spot bullet holes at that distance. Im hinking of setting up video camera, or having a brave buddy prone behind a berm at 300 yds with a spotter scope and a...

    308 depriming problem...

At the range a fellow was firing a FAL and said I could have the brass. He said it was junk South African ammo, but what the heck I could use it in my autoloader or somthing. But I cant deprime it. I busted the two decapping pins and any of it wont budge without busting a third pin. Any...

    OAL - Ogive vs OAL

When you measure Over All Length do you measure from: The base of the bullet to the tip (meplat) or from the base of the bullet to the Ogive? It seems to me that the length of a bullet from base to tip is kinda irrelevant. The measurement from the base to Ogive is meaningful because thats...

newb question - what size primers

I bought a bunch of new Lapua 308 brass. What size primers are these? Large Rifle or Small Rifle? And - there are varieties of primers, is there a primer specifically for this brass, or, are the primers specified in the reloading manual for a load recipe? New to reloading -

Press question - which Forster or Redding

Trying to decide which press to get started in reloading. For now, I am only planning on reloading for .308. Is a turret press like the T7 a good decision because you can set up the dies and just more the turret? Or, when using a Forster Co Ax you have to run all the rounds though one...
