    Rifle Scopes Purpose of lense shade?

    Hey guys, I see a lot of tactical rifles on here with big 4" lense shades, and some without. I'm wondering what advantage the lense shade gives you as I've never used one. Also, is there a performance difference between the shorter 2.5" and longer 4" shades? Thanks, John
