I have a FFP scope. I "understand" how things work but I think if I had to do any ranging or adjustments then I'd be sitting with a pad of paper and a calculator for 5 minutes any time I had...
I just received my Vortex Viper 6-24 FFP scope tonight.
It's going on Seekins rings.
I have a wheeler scope mounting kit which includes 2 levels.
I set the gun on the wood floor with the bipod open and leveled the top of the pic rail on my gas block.
Then I leveled the top of the elevation...
I picked up a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm ER/T M1 Front Focal scope to mount on my LR-308.
I bought a wheeler mounting kit.
I'm a little unsure of whether I mounted this thing correctly or not.
Here is what I did.
1. Mounted the rings temporarily
2. Used the alignment bars to align the ring...

Must be as low as I can get. I have plenty of clearance
I'm thinking the only way to do this is with a one piece mount like the Larue's
The Larue is 1.5" from top of pic rail to center of the scope tube.
