    Gunsmithing Older Jet Mill Quality?

I'm going to look at an Jet Mill from 1980. It was saved, by the current owner, from the scrap pile by a local toolmaking company, so I'm not sure. I imagine it was a tool room machine. The model is JVM 840 PF. My father went and looked at it already and $1100 is the asking price. No tooling...

    Guidance with 260 Rem Load

Went shooting last Monday and had a great time. I tried 3 bullets in my 24" GAP 260 Rem. The Barnes Match Burner 140 gr HPBT shot really good. I had the first 5 loads touching at 200 yards. These were seated to 2.750"(ish) touching the lands. I tried the Hornady 140 AMax a couple months back...

My New Rifle 'Irony' - By GAP

Got my rifle back from GAP a couple weeks ago, and I've been kinda busy to do anything with it, yet. So this past Saturday, I was working on a car and managed to get a rotator cuff tear in my right shoulder. Looks like it's going to sit for a while more... Ironic indeed. Gonna take my...

    Need advice on new build

Getting ready to send a Remington VSSF in 22-250 to GAP. It'll be chambered in 260 Rem, and I won't be shooting any VLD bullets. Probably stick with 140-142 grain bullets. What twist rate would work good with those? Also want it fluted and threaded. Is there anything else you would do (to...

    Gunsmithing Opinion on Sheldon Lathes

Might be going to look at a lathe. From the vague description, its a Sheldon about 5 feet overall length (I'd assume 36" between centers). Comes with 3 and 4 jaw chucks. I'd like to use it to get more experience running a lathe (really enjoyed the limited time I've used one), maybe some...

    Barnes New Match Bullets

Anyone tried the new Barnes Match Burner bullets yet? Specifically, the .308 175 grain. They're priced (locally) well below the others. Probably just an introductory price to get you hooked...

Reducing charges as Temp goes up

At 70*F and below, 48.0 gr of H380 shoots great from my Rem 308 Tactical. 80* and above, the group size doubles. Is there a general rule of thumb to reduce by x% every so many degrees?
