Anybody had experience with short barrel (less than 24") Creedmoor rifles.
Most custom shops seem to use 24" but a few builders like McMillan give the option of 20".
Looking for stats, experience and/or opinions.
(Creedmoor only pls... I think your .260s, Sweeds, .308s and God know what are...
I've shot about 250 rounds thru my Rem. 700 .308 ACC and although the recoil in a non-issue, the muzzle hop is really irritating.
It's a consistent jump up and to the right.
Not only is there no way to follow the bullet to impact, getting back on target takes alot of effort.
Obviously a muzzle...
I have a Rem. 700 AAC .308 with a 20" threaded barrel.
Was a the range last week and had the opportunity to fire the same gun with a Surefire muzzle brake. Although it barely jumped, it was loud... very loud.
I'm looking for a brake that won't make shot louder. I know it won't make it quiet...
Going to replace my Rem.700's Hogue junk stock with either a Bell and Carlson:
Light Tactical (w/j-loop)
or
Medalist Tactical Style.
Who's got one or the other? Pros/Cons? Overlooked details?
Thanks!
Anybody know a good hydrographics/dipping service in N. Florida or S. Georgia? I want to switch out my Rem.700's Hogue junk stock with a B&C or HS Precision but want to have it dipped in Multicam first.
Also, any places out of my area that you would recommend or avoid would be great.
If this...
I know this is a gunpowder forum but I also know there's plenty of memebers who love their bows too.
Anybody know of some great bowhunting forums?
Preferably, a site note based within any particular company's own site.
Also, can September get here any slower?
I've always carried my 870 with no sling but this Spring I had alot of action walking to different blinds of all sizes and position.
Between the gear (backpack & shotgun... no vest) and decoys I carried alot of stuff and thought a sling would be a big help.
I was thinking a single point may...
I've been using the 870 stock vented barrel with the bead for about 2 years. It works well enough (for turkeys) but I've never felt it was "precise" for flying birds and won't go near a deer with it.
Any suggestions... pros/cons?
Got my most recent turkey with Federal Strut-Shok 3.5" because the opportunity presented itself with a Beretta O/U but normally I use my Rem 870 12g.
Used a bunch of loads but I've found Remington Magnum 3" #4 seems to be the best at 40 yrds. Drops'em dead.
Any a opinions on others?
I searched for awhile so sorry if it's been covered...
Does anybody ever use a suppressor when they hunt...Anything?
My hearing is going to crap fast and I'm becoming paranoid. I doubled up on hearing protection (plugs and muffs) last time I hunted with a...
Can anybody clear up a few things in regards to the .260 for me?
1. Isn't the .260 the exact middle caliber between the .223 and .308?
2. If so, why isn't as popular as the .243 or .270?
(I realize there's chicken/egg (rifle/bullet) component the this question, so mainly I'm just asking based...
Shot this monster on Sunday after 2 days of box-calling and sitting in NW Florida.
Not sure of the exact weight b/c the scale technique was less than ideal but I'll say 21lbs to be "honest" and 23lbs for a campfire story.
Not the prettiest bird I saw but the biggest by far.
9.25" beard
1 spur...
