    Need some opinions

    New to the forum here,with that said,I am looking at a Remington 700 VTR that I can get for 350.00 bucks from a friend.I was wanting to know if this would be a good rifle to use a good base for a project.It is a short action .308 and is like new.Only has about 20 rounds through it.
