    Rifle Scopes Scope ring inserts?

    I really like the idea of the inserts on the Signature Zee rings, both for the protection of the scope as well as eliminating the need for lapping. This got me thinking...why don't all rings have some kind of thin "soft" material inside and avoid the metal to metal contact with the scope as well...

    So, I was looking at the Burris XTR, Signature Zee, Warne, Vortex Viper, TPS and other similar priced rings. I would like to stay under $100 for a set of rings, preferably under $75.
