Hand Loading for Long Range 4: Powderin' it

Ok, need some more advice. This is my second (refined from first) ladder test. I am thinking that 1,4, & 5 look promising, but, 2,7, & 8 are very close if you take out the 20 mph wind gusts. Once again all advice is welcome. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

Hand Loading for Long Range 4: Powderin' it

Thanks for the input Hondo, sounds like good advice. I plan on doing the next ladder test from 400yds, the previous one was done at 300yds.

Hand Loading for Long Range 4: Powderin' it

Completed my first ever ladder test today for my 300 Win Mag. This test was done using 1% of max increments for a total of 15 rounds, 1% equals .7gr. I think I will take the next ladder using .5gr increments using shots 11, 12, 13, & 15. If one of ya'll with more experience can see something...

    "best" 300 win mag brass?

It seemed very odd to me today that some would feed fine and then once fired the bolt would work perfect then the next round wouldn't even chamber, very frustrating during a match. This is my first experience with 300 WM but I have been reloading for some time without problems in 5.56 and...

    "best" 300 win mag brass?

I am using Federal brass because that is all I can find. It is once fired military. The problem I am having is getting the bolt open after firing. No other evidence of over pressure issues. Loading with 71.5gr of RL22, which is below max. The brass was blue printed and then loaded with 208 amax...

    .300wm - .300wsm

Ref the post above: trying to slow these down a bit and it's not working out. Worked my way down to 71.5gr RL22 and we are still above 3000fps. Causing heavy bolt lift and a few fail to extract. Reading my books it says lower end charges can lead to over pressure. Not sure I understand that but...

Spearpoint Ranch (Kansas) 2014 Tactical Rifle Matches

Just finished the first PR match I have shot in and all of the positive posts are dead on. Steve and the gang put on a great match. Definitely worth the 9hr drive. We will be back. Thanks guys. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

    .300wm - .300wsm

I am loading 208 amax over RL-22 into FC brass. I have noticed that federal brass is heavier than others and I am assuming this means less volume inside. With a recent test I was loading per Hornadys data and getting velocities above what the book indicates. Worked up to the max load with this...
