I have to agree that 1974 headstamped stuff isn't Fed GMM, as said it could be M118sb with the 173 fmj bt. need the rest of the headstamp to really identify. and any markings on the box. headstamp for the M118SB should have the nato cross date and LC stamp not aware of anyone else making M118SB...

Well, cant comment on the magazine issues , but a possible cause of the misfires could be that the bolt handle needs inletting a little deeper in the stock. I had that issue with a wooden bdl stock after putting a sps .308 in it. just a thought.

not an expert,but sounds as if you lost the springs when you removed the adjusting screws. not sure if there is a detent type ball behind the screws,but that's my guess.
