    Hearing Protection

    I use electronic ear muffs, and a plug in my right ear because when I put my cheek down on the rifle it lifts the muffs off my ear a little.

    Talk to me about GPS.

    Pretty much any new GPS will do the trick for what you are asking. Might not be a bad idea to get on ebay and pick up a used garmin etrex, or something similar, for a few bucks to get some experience with one. After a little use, you'll be able to decide which features you do or don't need.

    I need advice on a rifle for a 7 year old

    Look at the single shot combos from Rossi. They have a youth version, with barrels for .22, .410, and .243 if I remember correctly. Gives him something to grow into, and not a bad little survival rifle to have around the house.
