    Rifle Scopes Fixed 10 scope

I've got a SWFA 10x on a .308 hunting rifle. It gets dropped, bumped and generally treated with mild neglect and it's been flawless. Worth twice what they get for them.

Thanks for bringing this info over!

    Area 419 Funnel Kits

I saw these on FB the other day and they look very nice. Definitely a step up from the typical plastic RCBS type deals. I'm curious to hear some first hand reviews, once they get in circulation.

Here is what I got to reload 308, need input

reloading trays, to organize your brass are always helpful. I tend to hoard small cardboard boxes to sort brass, as well. Christmas cookie tins work well too. I also go through a lot of thin masking tape (marking ammo boxes and powder thrower) and note pads/legal pads when developing loads.

    Brass?

I haven't messed with the 3 headstamps you mentioned. Federal brass can be a little soft, in my experience and the primer pockets can be loose. It's fine to save the brass from your GMM, but I sure wouldn't buy any more. I've had very good luck with Lapua brass and actually with PMC brass as...

    308 juggernauts with ???powder

LOL, no, my bad. I was talking to someone else about 7mm and got confused!! 2.955" is my coal for the 185 jugs in .308. Sorry!

    308 juggernauts with ???powder

I just started playing with these. 43.5gr of Varget runs pretty well.

Remington 700 Long Range bullet Choice

178 Amax have been treating me pretty well and I've just started playing with Berger's 185gr. Juggernaut. It's showing potential, but I'm still working on it.

load data for 308 winchester berger vld 185 gr

I broke down and bought Berger's load manual. When I ordered it, I wasn't too thrilled about it. I figured it was going to be "just another load book" but I think it's the best book I've got. The loads aren't anything really special, but a lot of the theory and methods in the front half of the...

Gunsmithing Rem 700 feed ramp notching

I've seen a few pictures of notched or relieved feed ramps, to clear longer loads/mags, but no detail on how it was done in a mill. For the guys that AREN'T doing this with a Dremel: What size endmill are you using? How deep are you going? Does the notch go on-center or does it have to be offset...

    .308 reloads

I've encountered the same OAL issues with my Remingtons. The mile-long throat seems to be a common issue with factory barrels. Selecting a bullet that's shorter and doesn't mind a jump, seems to be key. So far, mine like 178 Amax and 180 SMKs. I have some Berger 185 juggernauts and Barnes...

    Suggest a load...

I have the same rifle, and found that I needed to load Berger bullets very long to get good results. On advice I received here, I tried some 178 Amax, and they run great at mag-friendly lengths. 43.5gr of Varget seems to be a sweet spot.

    Muzzle Brakes

I use the JP reducers on my 7mm rm and .308 rifles. They do an excellent job of reducing recoil, without putting any backblast on the shooter. They also do a pretty good job of keeping the dust down, when shooting in the dirt.

McRee / AICS magazine feed issue WITH PIC!!

The action is stock. Some more interesting measurements: The magazine can move .053" up and down. That's with it inserted in the chassis, then measuring while I pull downwards, then push upwards. Under the category of "better to be lucky than good" it appears I may have solved the issue. I...

McRee / AICS magazine feed issue WITH PIC!!

The mags are new. They came from Midway, so I'm sure I could send them back. I'll try the masking tape trick. When I was messing with this last night, I held the mags up, by hand, while I ran the bolt and there was no difference in operation. There's some vertical play, but it doesn't feel like...

McRee / AICS magazine feed issue WITH PIC!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm planning on contacting McRee and seeing what they have to say. In the meantime, I took a micrometer to the mags that I have. The magazine catch to top of mag are all the same height. The top of the follower to bottom of the feed lips are all the same. There...
