Ballistically speaking, I was under the understanding that 22lr hits its max velocity under 16" so anything more than that only slows the bullet down.

It took me a couple of range trips to get used to it but after I got used to it, I much prefer to shoot with both open.

You can sometimes find a used Steiner 5-25 T5xi for about $1350. The glass is said to be not as good but I like the turrets a lot.
