Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

Any differences in buffers, springs, etc., when making the switch? Things to be aware of regarding gas port size? @LRRPF52 is a huge fan of short barrels. FWIW, sir, your approach of one caliber has great appeal, even though I'll always have a few others for reasons. Alexander Arms needs...

New to AK47s and want to learn

Wisdom here. Do NOT buy one of these (AK - not Zastava), unless you want to PM me and buy mine. For way more than it's worth. Not sure what the brand is, but I've owned two and neither one blew my skirt up. Kalashnikov was way smarter than I am but he ain't Stoner. If you've absolutely got...

Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

Whose magazines do you all recommend? Magpul, ASC (works well for me in 223), C products, and slander are what I've found. TIA

    PSA AR10

Looking the part is definitely important. I think if I copy your rifle, but in 6.5cm, I won't look out of place if I'm wearing skinny jeans when I shoot.

    PSA AR10

Do you mind sharing what you did to piece it together? Did you take it all apart and then reassemble with loc tight, proper torques, etc? Nice job. Glad it's working out. God bless America

Replacement bolt and firing pin for LaRue large frame

Gents, thank you for your replies. @longshot2000, I'll give LaRue a call and ask for John. Solid logic all the way around. @bigjake83 I have the standard bolt and firing pin. The primers look a little cratered to me - ammo dependent. Hornady TAP and some cheaper options do this whereas...

Replacement bolt and firing pin for LaRue large frame

Gents, I'd lie to replace my large frame OBR bolt with a HP bolt and reduced diameter firing pin. LaRue offers this, but you have to buy their spare parts kit for 350 ish and change and I'd really just like a new bolt and firing pin. Reading on JP's website I don't think theirs will work with...

    Tikka T3 Thread

I'm wanting to get my wife something in .243 for Christmas. Is there a length of pull difference in the compact model vs. others or is it only the barrel length? Thanks, God bless America

Recommend a good book to learn chess

CSM, I am a knuckle dragger. Thinking hurts my brain. Does that indicate I need to practice it more? In all seriousness, I have Sun Tzu, Clausewitz, Napoleon's Maxims, Musashi, etc. If I could implement 1/100'th of what they know..... To all the replies, thank you and I will investigate...

Recommend a good book to learn chess

All, I've got two kids who love this game. Please recommend a book that covers the basics and some basic strategies. White belt level chess is the aim, for now. If not a book, then a link. Obviously I can google basic chess, but the hide has never steered me wrong so I am asking the...

Leaving the bolt gun for a semi auto

You're putting burdens on yourself that are not yours to bear. You're an American. You're a man. You're an LE sniper. Heck, you've earned having an AI in the safe, especially if you used it for Uncle Sugar. If that's not enough (and I'm only joking a little here) you have a duty to pass on...

@TonyTheTiger you're as bad as the other enabler. I thought I was at the pinnacle of small arms technology with a carbine length M4 until you started posting your experiences in other threads. Longer component life, reduced split times, easier on brass - and the price is a little bit of...

You're an enabler. But thanks for the tip.

All very good advice. FWIW, I was trying to get a rise out of the peanut gallery with my "cheap out on the 6.5 build" comment. If there ever was a caliber to do that with, 6.5cm is probably NOT it. I'm not going to go as cheap as possible on this 223 build, either, but guns are like hot rods...

Primary Arms IS good. Probably get everything except the receiver set there. I figured I might go the budget route on my 6.5 cm build. That ought to be good for a laugh. One final question on the barrel for those who've done it: does the intermediate gas make that much of a difference...

Thanks for all the replies. On a whim I checked out Rock River Arms. Prices are good, for now, and they've at least got everything to put together a complete rifle. @Gustav7, I'm reading through your review on your PSA -10 adventure. Thanks.

I've bought from them in the past. Big Tex ordnance looks promising

Point taken. I'm considering a "hard use" rifle. Leaning towards 16" bbl intermediate gas, vLtor a5, triggertach duty, some free float hand guard. As you might have guessed I'm partial to money but I have plenty of experience with "it fell apart like a dollar watch." For what I'm willing to...
