    223 Ackley Improved

Obviously there are constraints inherent to the calibre and the components listed bring another set of constraints. All barrels will have different tastes. In my experience playing with the exact same projectiles and powder (I was using ADI brass) getting the speed wasn’t hard, 26.1gn of varget...

Texas Plinking 10 rd Group at 1K Yards Challenge Videos

That wind is a killer! Ryan could absolutely shoot and had the sort of set-up that you would think of as being able to tame wind like that.

I honestly thought this bloke with .375CT was going to clean up the 10” group at 1000

Have you had a chance to run this load out to a reasonable distance?

    223 Ackley Improved

Last week I threw together a load for a 300m match at my local club. 26.3gn 2208/Varget with 69gn SMK. Absolutely dynamite! 3075fps from my 26” 1:7 twist, SD of 9.9fps. Conditions were near perfect. Zero wind. Results in picture attached. Ran it this week at 500m, again a very impressive...

Understood. Good work on picking on the affect of changes in altitude density. That’s a reasonable shift (.3mil). From my experience A big part of learning to read and respond to wind is in the journey of seeing the effect of wind on your preferred bullet and load at different distances on...

“Texas Plinking” 1 MOA/1K Yard Challenge Videos

Firstly, amazing shooting. Congrats on the second round hit with that exceptional set-up. What was the altitude difference between where you shoot in Co versus the location in Tx? Do you manage to get into competitions much or just having fun plinking steel? Congratulations again

Great shooting! It was a pleasure to watch you nail it on shot 3 and that was just unlucky on the .5MoA target.

Exceptional shooting in the episode. The fella with 6.5CM shooting 153gn…Just wow. A great episode.

“Texas Plinking” 1 MOA/1K Yard Challenge Videos

The ability to act off mirage and read wind, not just at the target through a scope but also down the range takes a bit of experience watching the environment. The best comp shooters have a pretty well defined and practiced process flow for getting down behind their rifle, in position and...

    223 Ackley Improved

That’s exceptional. The heavy 224’s in the 223AI run beautifully when you find that load they like.

“Texas Plinking” 1 MOA/1K Yard Challenge Videos

This is something I can’t get my head around either. I’ve been shooting long range for about 13yrs, started out by learning to shoot Palma style/high power (sling, jacket, no scope and learning to hold centre and adjusting sights for conditions) and these days civilian service rifle and other...

I’d be all over that if I get over. I’ll be packing extra holes on my belt. I do a Texas style brisket with a dry rub here at home but would love to try the real deal.

    223 Ackley Improved

I had similar performance and issues with the 75ELDMs and H4895. I was running 25.7gn of H4895 and got about 3106fps out of a 26” barrel 1:7 twist. Getting .7-1moa groups. My half baked theory was that the plastic tip was deforming with that sort of heat and pressure and impacting ballistic...

Haven’t completed the spray on the action or barrel. I’m thinking either carbon black or sniper grey.

“Texas Plinking” 1 MOA/1K Yard Challenge Videos

I’ve been watching the 1K 1MoA the whole time it’s been running and absolutely love it. For all the reasons above and already stated. One thing I see repeatedly is that almost no one seems to dial for wind. From what I’ve seen there is no serious time constraint for your shoot in the challenge...

    6mmDasher feeding from 308 magazine?

Fair point I’ll look into the details. I understand they are meant to be a great performance calibre The attraction of the Dasher is its uses a bit less powder and gives very good barrel life and factory brass options exist.
