    Also, 18” of 308 is going to make 1k a bit tougher vs a longer barrel. Would have to pull up the calculator but I’m guessing that a 175MK bullet starts to transition at 800 yards near sea level out of an 18” barrel. Specific powder charge dependent.

    Btw, a thousand yards isn’t just something you “try”. That would be like “trying” out 315 # on the bench when you haven’t been to a gym in a while. You’ll most likely pile a lot of projectiles into the dirt if you just casually want to shoot 1k. Being competent at that distance is an endeavor.
