Hunting & Fishing Hog Eradication --Financially Worth It?

I lived and hunted in Texas for many years. Every rancher or farmer in the state will whine and complain about the hogs but none of them will allow you to hunt hogs on their land without paying them for it.

Gunsmithing Colorado gunsmiths? Sportsman's Warehouse gunsmiths?

Schw15, I live in about 30 miles east of you. Try Roscoe Enterprises in Pueblo., (719) 251-8951. He is a one man shop specializing in Remington 700s, 1911s, and S&W revolvers. What kind of work are you looking to have done?

    Remington 700 PCR

Nice setup GTO. I have an update. I bought the Remington 700 PCR in 6.5CM just before Father's Day. I told my wife I needed a scope for it and she bought me one for Father's day. It is a Vortex Diamondback 6x24. When I opened the scope box, there was a disassembled Glock 48 inside. I have...

I am thinking the same thing. Does anybody have one? Do you have any complaints about it?

    Remington 700 PCR

Howdy all. Does anyone have a Remington 700 PCR? What do you think of them? I searched the bolt action forum and did not get any results. I know they have only been out a few months and the few reviews I have seen were positive. I have found them for around $850 bucks and I am thinking...

Gunsmithing Remington 700 Timney Trigger Issues

I got it fixed. I removed some material from the new trigger guard web area that was pushing on the trigger assembly. I filed the trigger guard and safety areas of the stock. It is torqued down and functions great. I hope to shoot it this weekend. Thank you very much for the suggestions. I...

Gunsmithing Remington 700 Timney Trigger Issues

Yes, I followed the Timney directions for the seam adjustment. I turned the sear engagement screw until it touched the safety and then backed it out 1/4 turn. The sear functions great without the rear action screw torqued. Once I tighten the rear action screw, the bolt drops the sear.

Gunsmithing Remington 700 Timney Trigger Issues

Hello gunsmithing forum. I bought a Timney trigger for my stock Remington 700 ADL in .308. I experienced light primer strikes and contacted Timney. They sent be a different sear and now I get 100% primer strikes. I cracked the plastic trigger guard during installation and just received a...

What Remington 700 caliber for a newbie?

Thanks for the feedback. I like the minimal recoil on the 243. I also like the abundance of ammo in 308 selections. I have not yet shot out a barrel. I shoot about 50 rounds in each rifle annually and mainly hunt with bi monthly range sessions. The 7RM shoots 3/4" 5 shot groups with...

    Does anybody load Hornady SSTs?

Thanks for the feedback. I have shot one deer and one hog with the SST in .243 thus far and both were head shots with great bullet performance. The Speer bullets I have run for years performed well but I never recovered one. I tried the SSTs as I could not get the Speer bullets locally when I...

Rifle Scopes Looking for a newbie scope upgrade

I am willing to try FFP but reliability is paramount. This rifle will be used mostly for hunting and partially for long targets. I checked out the Vortex PST but could not find one for any less than 800 bucks. Thanks for the feedback.

    Does anybody load Hornady SSTs?

Howdy. I have been handloading rifle ammo for 15 years and have always used Speer bullets. I recently tried some Hornady SSTs in .243 and was impressed with the ballistics in deer hunting and target grouping so far. I very much like the fact that the polymer tips are constant and my OAL stays...

What Remington 700 caliber for a newbie?

I have 4 factory Remington 700 ADLs. .243, 25/06, .308, and 7mm Remington Magnum. They are all identical except for caliber. I use them all for hunting at distances of less than 200 yards and am looking to shoot to 600 yards with one of them. Which of these calibers should I play with? I...

Rifle Scopes Looking for a newbie scope upgrade

Hi, I have been prowling for months and this is my first post to the hide. I am a rifle hunter looking to get into shooting targets out to 600 yards. I own many rifles and all of them wear a Leupold VX-1 3x9x40 scope. I liked Leupold's reliability and lifetime warranty. All of my...
