Range Report Super short .308 Win velocity

Ruag target factory ammo in 308w uses 168gr smk's, shot out of a 12 inch barrel from a semi-auto gave me 2290fps average muzzlevelocity at sealevel. Not fast, but sufficient enough out to 600m.

Hunting & Fishing Legally, are the 175 SMK BTHP considered as FMJ?

Even the military dont adres the 175smk as fmj, but open tip.

    PLRF 15C serial cable

Get the trigger if you can afford it. It is so much easier to range targets long distance, or as stated above, on small targets, especially when it is mounted on a tripod or spotter scope. You wont regret it. I even use it when the pda is not connected, because of the ease of use.

Hunting & Fishing 338lm subsonics for hunting.

Anyone have any hunting experience with 338lm subsonic ammo? Corbon makes some nice 338lm subsonic ammo using 300 grain smk tips. But will they have enough energy to take out a boar or even a roe buck? I know they will kill in the end, but i am not looking for a round that will only put a hole...

**New shooting/spotting tripod design, looking for input**

It would be a nice asset if you could make an extra leg, that lays on the third leg of the tripod and can be folded back towards you, which could then support the back end of the rifle stock, know what i mean? Kind of like in this picture, only i use a loose extra monopod, which works like a...

Hunting & Fishing Hunting results with 208 amax from 308w.

This week shot 2 roe bucks with the 208 amax out of the 308w, one broadside shot and one neckshot. Although still heavy exitwounds, and destroying some of the meat, at least both bucks dropped dead in their tracks, did not even get a chance to move one step further, both died where they stood on...

    Which PLRF TO Purchase

If possible get the 10c, with the angle and compass measurements and being able to connect it to a pda gives you alot more options than the regular 10 or15. I was thinking about the 15c aswell, but in the end people with experience also advised me against the 15 for the laser wavelenght as...

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

Thanx, since then been using it for hunting aswell with good results for precision, a little bit strong on energy. Not sure what ASL stands for due to lack of english, my guess is you mean lenght of cartidge? If so, they no longer fit in the magazine, i need to hand load them. Muzzle velocity is...

Hunting & Fishing Hunting results with 208 amax from 308w.

Hi there, I was wondering what results people are getting with 208amax out of 308w rifles during hunting. After hitting the search button i see a lot of remarks that the 208 amax has great accuracy and terminal ballistics, alot of talk about how dear and pigs drop dead in their tracks etc...

Range Report Collecting DOPE to True Ballistic Calculators w/ Angled Shots? Will data be flawed?

I have done the same thing recently, but at a low steepnes of -8.5 degrees max. I just ranged the target and measured the incline with a plrf10c lrf. So the ballistic programm could use all this for the calculations. For me this worked just as fine as it did at our own flat ranges. For 308 i...

Range Report Load workup question... Signs of pressure or not? What next?

Are you actually only using one shot per load? How does this work if i may ask? I am wondering how you can get any accurate information from load development when only firing one round per load...and what do you need the chrono for? Are you looking for a node in accuracy, or in velocity, or...

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

So, finnally got to try the 208amax on some long range shootin. Like mentioned before, shootin a trg22 308w with a 32inch barrel, givin me 2650fps If it would not give me any advantage, i promissed myself, i would have the barrel shortend back to 20 inch and go back to lighter...

Range Report Accuracy first wind formula

dariof Yes, your correct. And if the wind comes from 1,5,7, 11 oclock you divide the answer by 2. Example; You shoot a bullit with a bc of .325, than the list would be the same but with a wind falue of 3 mph, So 100 again .1 200 .2 Etc Etc 500 .5 If the wind is 6mph then multiply...

    TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

At ombre; It is a lothar walther barrel, 32 inch, 1-10twist. But.....its not a trg42, it is a trg 22 in regular 308w. Just got the freekin long and heavy barrell to shoot them 208 amax. I dont mind the weight, no need for crawling during a stalk, most hunting is done from bipod or tripod or...

    TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Yeah, rifle now weighs 10.4kg, but part of that comes also from the folder and the 32 inch barrel i now have on it, so its kinda of a beast when hanging on your shoulder. Shooting 208 amax at 810mps, almost same trajectory as a 338lm with a 20 inch barrel. Some form of like a poor mans 338...

Range Report Sterlok+ vs JBM Elavation Solution is off up to 1 MOA at 1000yrds

Just a tad off-topic question to the TS: The number of velocity, is that something you measured or just a nr you wanted to use for demonstation purposes about your solution question? Because if you are getting 2950fps from 208 amax out of a 308w, i am very interested in your powder type/ brand...

Range Report RCBS Chargemaster and Standard Deviation

True. Especially in competitions where you have sighters, muzzle velocity is of less importance. But for hunting or tactical comps where the first strike hit either on plates or animals is very important, knowing your V0 will be of great value. But even if you did measure them, you still need...
