Sidearms & Scatterguns Saw a guy open carrying

I believe it is for cases like this that the meme for MealTeam Six is normally rolled out.

Dope shooting uphill - tell me why I'm wrong

I haven't reread the whole thread in depth, but the basics as I understand it is, gravity affects bullet drop over distance (and time). The shorter the time to target (which is related to horizontal distance to target and velocity), the less gravity affects the bullet.

Can a different muzzle device change barrel harmonics and effect accuracy

It's entirely "possible". Witness the old Browning BOSS muzzle device.

    Lightweight hunting rifle “build”

The Savage Lightweight Hunter of a few years ago, with hollowed out wooden stock, in 6.5 CM, is VERY light. The current Ruger American Ranch bolt actions are also very light. One in 5.56 or 7.62 x 39 is very nice.

Night Vision New Steiner Thermals (Handheld, Clip-On, Scope)

Sadly that model uses a built in rechargeable battery. For me that's a no go; I can't remove the battery between uses and can't quickly replace it if it runs out of juice. I'd also be concerned about longevity of the battery if it sits on the shelf rather than being used daily. I've been...

Why do people still mount scopes the way they do?

In my limited experience, using a string doesn't work with high magnification scopes up in small rooms?

Why do people still mount scopes the way they do?

I'm confused (not surprising :)) If you don't level the rifle, how do you know when the bore and the vertical crosshair are in the same vertical plane?

MDT introduces the HNT26! A 26 Ounce Carbon Fiber Hunting Chassis.

Wow. Perfect for a Savage Lightweight Hunter in 6.5 CM.

Yes, channel locks. The thread protector is a thick steel part and I damned well know enough not to compress it toomuch. The exterior was protected with alumshim and the channel locks were only used AFTER solvent, then a blowtorch, failed to free it up. I ended up having to use freeze spray on...

Mike. I don't know if you're being snide or genuinely missed that I wrote "After swapping rails, rings, and scopes, with all the same result," I'm not a fool, I swapped thing in and out in a sequence to try to determine IF it was the rings, rail, or scope. I didn't just randomly swap...

Right, because the last time I contacted them (about the immoveable thread protector) THAT went so swimingly. The point here is, when you pay over $2500 for a rifle, locked up parts and misaligned rail mounting holes are the kind of bush league problem that I wouldn't even encounter in an...

    Begara quality

I'm another disgusted Bergara owner. Bought one several years ago, one of the more expensive chassis versions (can't recall the name.) When it arrived the thread protector could not be removed. Eventually I had to, literally, use channel locks, a heat gun, and solvent to get it off. I...

Why the hate for leupold ?

Not sure if I've posted before, but, this: 1. optics aside, stuff such as spotting scope covers and spotting scope tripods are made in China. 2. Some of the product just doesn't impress me. I bought a ...I can't recall the exact model...Pig hunting scope w/t idiotic reticle and it was no...

    Night Vision Buying a PVS-14 (a guide)

What about older Litton PVS-14 units? I have one that's from...late 90's or early 2000's. 2 battery, manual adjustment knob on front. I bought it from 'some guy' who was selling them at a show. It was his personal demo model but at the time he sold it because his wife wanted to go on...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce told me to use 100in/lbs on ring clamps - it broke

I wish I could say this was news, but over a decade ago I also asked for specs for ring screws and was told something wildly out of line. I confirmed it with them a second time before doing it, then I used the quoted number and had the screw head seperate. I sen the rings back and...

    Semi Auto for LE

I'm not LE either, but decades ago I saw one situation where a semi auto might, and I say, might, have helped. That or a 2nd sniper. It was a hostage situation shooting in Sunnyvale CA. Several bad guys held multiple hostages in a (stereo/electronics?) strip mall type store with thick glass...

self winding tactical watches.... suggestions please

G shock Rangeman, or a self-winding Sony dive watch. Personally I'd go with the Rangeman; more accurate, solar powered so no battery. I have a Sony Orange Monster and while it's a fantastic watch, mechanicals will lose lots of time compared to Quartze. Plus it's extremely bulky and heavy. I...

Tired of awful Applied Ballistics products

I agree with the original post. As a software developer, i.e. programmer, most of the AB software is utter crap. If it was free software it would be sub par in the world of free software/open source. Given what it costs, it's crap. Every time a version of their software is released it...

Sidearms & Scatterguns What survival knife

I've not built any snares, but books and videos on the subject have never shown me a case where I would need anything that couldn't be notched with the edge of a blade. And, with respect, if we're going to come up with extreme examples to justify my point or your point with regard to sawteeth...
