I have a LRP-07 in 308 Win with 22" barrel and 7" TBAC can. I'm at about 4.25 turns open FWIW. As BigJake said it's just going to depend. I started out running the LMOS system but now I have the heaviest bolt carrier and SCS JP offers, trying to keep my brass in decent shape. Also, (and I don't...
I have used ADM mounts on multiple rifles and finally got a Bobro. While I think the ADM mounts are good, I like the Bobro more and I feel the QD mechanism is superior. Also the rings are lower profile which is helpful to see markings on certain scopes.
IMR4895 will work but for highest muzzle velocity you probably want to look at Varget or Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR. Nosler has load data online. It will tell you what powders were fastest for them. https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/308-winchester/
The LaRue Battlefield Mixer really is for mixing and pouring paint from a standard 1 gallon can. I run LaRue mags in my LRP-07 and I think they are great. They will handle longer cartridges than Magpuls for sure. I have no experience with KAC magazines...
My Kestrel (4500NV) seems to always be at 100% battery until one day it's dead as can be. In fact, I just went to check it before writing this and it's dead as dead can be. I always use Engergizer lithium batteries. I keep a stock in my range bag.
I use the Forster dies with full length sizer and micrometer seater. I use CCI 450 primers, 36.9 grains of Varget, Berger 140 Hybrid Target bullet. 2755 fps out of a 24" barrel with suppressor. Measured with a Magnetospeed. 0.020" off lands worked best for my loads and barrel.
I got a 16" 450 Bushmaster upper when Indiana first allowed that round for hunting. It has been reliable and accurate and easy to reload. 458 SOCOM probably has more bullet options if you are into playing around with reloads, but the standard 250 grain Hornady load just works. I let my friend...
I have used the Wheeler equivalent tool to fix a problem I had where I could not get the proper torque on the barrel nut while getting the gas tube notch to align. Unless you discover that your barrel is not centered in the hand guard (assuming the barrel extension is installed correctly) or...
I have a 24" 1-8 twist Brux barrel that I installed on a Savage 10FP receiver and it shoots great. I get 2750 fps with Berger 140 Hybrids using Varget. Load workup was amazingly easy. I have only tried Varget because it shot as good as I could ask for. You will love this cartridge.
My experience with a suppressed JP LRP-07 in 308 is that the heavy SCS and heavy VMOS is easier on brass than the standard SCS and LMOS. I was getting a lot more expansion at the base of my cases with the lighter components. If you don't reload then just go with the lighter parts to compliment...
I got a Brux barrel chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua from Devin at Sin Arms. To get some brass I ordered some factory Lapua 139 Scenar ammo. I was shocked to not be able to chamber the factory ammo. I ended up seating the bullets approximately 50 thousandths deeper just so I could shoot them (let's not...
Something really cheap you can try that has worked for me is make sure the chamber is squeaky clean and free from any solvents or oil. I have personally experienced a perfectly safe load display all sorts of pressure signs and then be remedied by cleaning the chamber with an alcohol soaked patch...
I have run the large frame low mass bolt carrier with standard silent capture spring and the heaviest VMOS with heaviest SCS, both suppressed and unsuppressed. In 308 Win the recoil impulse between the two setups is different but neither is harsh. I do find the heavy setup is a little easier on...
I'm not sure of the jump because I have never gotten a good measurement of where the lands are. Being a semi-auto I have just been working within mag length, which with my LaRue mags is about 2.865" maximum. Twist is 1:10. But thanks for the heads up about pressure spikes with 8208. I was...
As the OP I wanted to post some results since there seems to be very little info on this combination. I used Lapua brass, Federal 210M primers, 160 grain .308 Flatline bullets, and 8208 XBR powder. Seated to 2.860" COAL. Fired from a JP Rifles LRP-07 with 22" barrel. MV measured with a LabRadar...
If you did indeed pull the one shot on 40.8 then I would say your sweet spot is 40.6 - 40.7. Did you happen to chronograph your shots? I suspect the velocity would be pretty flat in the 40.4 to 40.8 area. If it were me I would probably just load 40.6 grains and go shoot.
