Another thing that I do is to manage the spent brass. I attach a draw string bag to the side of my pack to throw my brass in after stages. Works well for me. Spent brass doesn’t stay in those slots in the plastic cases well.
You will hate your life if you try to use a drag bag while competing in a match. I’ve seen it. Suck it up and buy a quality pack. Eberlstock is what I’m using.
I plan on doing mammoth also and I’ll be running the eberlstock lodrag. I’m thinking that the important things are what feels comfortable when loaded, what will hold up, and what will carry your rifle securely enough for you to move with purpose.
I like the cole tax ammo novel. It is bigger than I thought once you fill it completely but at least it is relatively flat so easier to put it in a pack.
I have a factory stock off of a Remington 700 5r if you are interested. It’s got two blemishes on it. Will come with the factory bdl bottom metal. PM me if interested.
I’ve shot both. I have two gen 2 razors. I have zero complaints and I will pick up another in the future. You will not be disappointed. Never had a tracking issue or anything. All you need is a 20 moa base to get you well past 1k unless you are shooting a round not suitable for the distance.
I have used both. The athlon chronus has a lot smaller eye box. Meaning the eye relief is weird. You have to get your eye positioned perfect to see. Very little deviation towards or away from the scope and you can’t see crap. The gen 2 is also noticably better past 400 and especially with mirage...
