Nice, I was in the same thought process as you, I have a Steiner S35, and with no QD, I was planning to look for a handheld. But I think I'm going to just move on from that and buy the AGM Varmint with QD mount so I'll be using it as the spotter and main thermal. Following along.

The answer to this is too simple. AGM Rattler TS35-640 - Feral Texas Outdoors has them for 3k with a three year warranty. QD mount makes it a simple thing to take off the rifle and scan, then when needed it goes back on the rifle in a few seconds. To me the thermal thing really comes down to...
