(embarrassing) question about Redding bushing dies - .004" discrepancy. Annealing?

I looked at the SAC bushings but was considering if they were enough better in order to justify the cost. It sounds like you think they are?

(embarrassing) question about Redding bushing dies - .004" discrepancy. Annealing?

It sounds like you are annealing after resizing? If so annealing before resizing should give you more consistent spring back. In conjunction with my previous post, the 2 step bushing sizing helped me a lot. Since my small hole gages are spherical, I was detecting a smaller diameter at the neck...

    Pins vs Small hole gages?

In all my years of surfing the reloading forums I have never read of anyone referring to using 'Small Hole Gages', for measuring case neck ID? (embarrassing) question about Redding bushing dies - .004" discrepancy. Annealing?

Do you use expanding mandrels after a full-length bushing die for neck sizing?

Do you use expanding mandrels after a full-length bushing die for neck sizing?

I use a type S Redding bushing die and adj the bushing sizing depth to a point above the typical 'donut' area of the neck shoulder junction. My thoughts are that the un-sized portion of the neck aids in maintaining bullet concentricity in my factory sized chambers. Also the possible 'donut' then...

Rethinking the Redding Type S dies. What say you?

Hmmmm, I just enjoyed many informed & thought provoking opinions on sizing with Redding & other dies in this now 12 year old thread. Time well spent for me.
