    Seekins HAVAK ph2..?

Countersink mortises in the stock barrel channel for T nuts. I use a centering jig from the belly side to drill the bolt hole, then chase that from the barrel channel side to sink the T nut.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

But at 1.570” trim, you’re still stuck single loading the long, high BC bullets the same way we have been in the other Grendel variants, and at 60kpsi, the bolt thrust is actually greater than that of the Grendel based cases at 52000. That’s why the ARC was pushed back 30thou, and why it gives...

Calling All Seekins Havak Bravo Owners

I have a PH1 in 6 creed I have been using for 3 years for PRS matches. I rebarreled away from the Rock Creek “light tactical, heavy spiral fluted” tube at the end of my first season and have been shooting Bartlein Heavy Palma barrels ever since, on my 3rd now. For a hunting rifle, the Seekins...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

That appears to be the “ASR” contract. Barrett is providing MRAD rifles in 338 and 300 Norma, so that’s not the 6 ARC contract.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

The question I have not yet seen asked or answered, but has my eyebrow raised - what’s the DoD doing with the 6ARC? Clearly not an M4 replacement, but does anyone know what group and which roles?

    Rifle Scopes Getting into PRS

GAP has Bushnell XRS II’s for $1360 which comes with a Kestrel 5700 Sportsman. Far better glass than the Viper’s. DMR II’s with the Kestrel for $960 (better glass than the Viper IMHO also). Both have more forgiving eyeboxes.

    6mm ar15 or 6.8 based help

If you didn’t see the 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge thread, it looks like Hornady is prepping to drop a new SAAMI standardized 6mm Grendel variant called the 6 ARC. Necked down, and shoulder pushed back a little. Looking forward to seeing it when it drops. Until then, I have a 243LBC I...

    Seekins HAVAK ph2..?

Pretty easy to change the trigger. I dropped in a Jewel HVR I had in a drawer from an old specialty pistol I’d sold, and sold the 510 which came with my PH1 for $100. Figure a new Jewel is $200, so a $100 upgrade there didn’t make me sad. The Seekins custom shop can cerakote the barreled action...

    .243 for PRS type comps

... which was the point I made at the beginning of this divergence.... If the dude has a 243win today, he gets to pick a different cartridge if he so chooses within a year, just like the rest of us.

    .243 for PRS type comps

I tried H1000 on promises it would double barrel life over H4350. I lost speed at higher pressures. I could run 2 grn under max with H4350 and run faster, so I gave up on that particular legend (24” barrel 6CM). Two years ago I shot 40.5grn H4350 only running about 2900 trying to stretch barrel...

    .243 for PRS type comps

I’ve certainly never gotten a 243win or AI to 2000 rounds without losing velocity. I used to rebarrel my 243win/AI bench rifle at 750-1000. Even running less powder than 243win, I don’t get over 1200 with 6 creeds before velocity starts falling off. Sure, they still shoot small groups. But...

    .243 for PRS type comps

The good news: a 243win barrel won’t last long in PRS matches, you’ll be rebarreling after about 1,000. So you can switch to a 6 Creed when that day comes, which won’t be long, even just shooting a light regional/club series schedule.

    Seekins HAVAK ph2..?

The only changes from the PH1 to the PH2 are the stock and the trigger. They shifted from the McMillan Game Warden in early PH1 models to their own in house composite for the late PH1’s, and then to a new profile (cheek riser and different forend) for the PH2’s. The PH1’s use Timney 510’s while...

What's up with Columbia River Arms?

I know a few folks who have said they’ve had issues with Columbia River Arms/Black Hole Weaponry in recent years, especially some funky stuff with finances moving into a new shop and then back... but... I’ve built rifles with over 30 BHW barrels in the last ~10yrs, and all of them have been...

    Seekins Precision Havak Action

I have been competing with a Seekins Havak PH1 the last two years. I left it in the McMillan Game Warden it shipped in, added a cheek riser, Area419 rail, and some weight in the buttstock and forend. I struggled pretty hard with mine at first to encourage reliable feeding. The full diameter...
