    Squaring up to the rifle and both knees on the ground does the trick for me. I also roll my hips slightly forward. If the position allows me; I'll sit back on my heels. It's all about getting as many points of contact as possible.

    The reticle. Just like irons, your focal point should be on the front sight post tip. The same applies to an optic; focus on the reticle once you have checked your npa and parallax.
