    New barrel slowing down?

I just realized that it might be confusing if someone only read a couple of posts on here. I actually fired 150 rounds of the 40.0 grain load of RL 16 before performing the ladder loads. I agree with you about rounds down the barrel before any load development attempts. 200 rounds total on this...

    New barrel slowing down?

I was amazed there were no signs of pressure with any of these loads, 2900 FPS+ with 140's is pretty darn fast. Definitely looking at load development there as well as the lower node @ 40.6 grains.

    New barrel slowing down?

Ok, here is what I have. First 50 rounds of the day is the 40.0 grains RL16 the last 50 rounds was kind of a ladder going up 0.3 each load 5 rounds each. Shots/mv/sd/es 40.0 gr RL16 1-10/2691/20.8/58.3 11-20/2715/16.6/46.1 21-30/2722/12.9/58.2 31-40/2714/15.6/43.4 41-50/2717/8.7/30.9...

Suppressors Accurate, Clean, Consistent, Reliable: Favorite 300 AAC Blackout Factory Ammo for Suppressed AR?

The Sig 220's are the most reliable/cleanest in my gun for factory ammo. Winchester white box subs and Sellier & Bellot are tied for the worst/dirty.

    New barrel slowing down?

After 200 rounds total the speed is up a little bit at 2717 FPS. Probably the slowest and lowest speed up in any barrel I have owned. Still shooting about 1/2 MOA so that is good!

    New barrel slowing down?

All loaded at the same time with the same canister of powder, first 40 rounds shot on Wednesday morning, last 60 rounds shot Thursday morning. Thursday was about 10 degrees cooler than Wednesday. Possible temp variation but RL 16 is pretty temp stable and 10 degrees is not much of a difference...

    New barrel slowing down?

No copper remover, just eliminator. Loaded up another hundred and going out tomorrow. I am thinking I won't clean for these last hundred rounds and see how it acts. Didn't want to look at a brand new barrel in the borescope and psyche myself out, it shoots acceptably, just puzzled that it seems...

    New barrel slowing down?

So I am breaking in a new 6.5 CM barrel from P2 precision... Pre-fit for BAT TR 26" and it seems to be slowing down? Using some cheap Barnes Match Burners 140 grain and 40.0 grains of RL 16 with CCI #200 seated to 2.800 COAL. Accuracy is fine and stable around 1/2 MOA. Speeds measured with...

    First time prairie dog hunting

Shooting mat and bi-pod/rear bag if you can get a slightly elevated position. Tripod that you can mount your rifle via arca or hog saddle etc... set up in the bed of your pick-up for height advantage. Rim fire is pretty useless for most prairie dog towns, 20, 223, 6mm center fires preferably...

    Horizon Vandal 22 Creedmoor

Handled one yesterday that somebody ordered, overall pretty nice, but not really "light".

    Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

Mine missed 2 shots yesterday on my first session. Was shooting a 7mm-08 and like an idiot I selected the wrong velocity setting. Started a new session with the correct velocity setting and it didn't miss a single shot.

    Gunsmithing Firing pin question

Hard bolt lift regardless of ammo used or dry firing may be the result of shooting the higher pressure 5.56 ammo in the .223 Rem chamber. Are your bolt lugs looking ok? Might be galled or otherwise damaged? Best of luck to you sorting it out!

    Gunsmithing Firing pin question

Maybe stop shooting 5.56 ammo in your .223 Remington chamber rifle? Probably where your hard bolt lift is coming from and light strikes on hard primers, most likely nothing wrong with your gun other than operator error in ammo selection...

    Pristene Actions?

I have two, pretty impressed actually. A 223 with a proof savage prefit, and a 6.5CM with a preferred blanks savage prefit. .25 Moa - .5 Moa easily attainable with both, bolt lift is exceptionally light, cycles very smoothly. Both are in MPA chassis with TT Diamonds.

    Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

Finally got out to the range today for a ladder test on 6 ARC and try out the new Xero... Like others here, it did not disappoint! Never missed a shot, either on supplied tabletop tripod or mounted to the arca rail on my chassis. Rain squall broke out mid-ladder test and it didn't affect the...

Broken/Missing Trigger Shoe Pin on Timney 532

I have had the trigger pin on a Calvin Elite 2 stage walk out of the housing. Didn't loose the pin though... Re-installed the pin an a piece of scotch tape on both sides of the pin and the problem was solved. Sucks to have a new rifle break down on the first outing....

    MDT 223 Steel mag issues

Tried the MDT, Accurate, and AI metal 223 mags in MPA chassis, none of them worked reliably. Went back to the ugly as homemade soap Magpul 5.56 AICS plastic, at least they work all the time.
