    1903a4 vintage sniper rifle (gibbs)

Re: 1903a4 vintage sniper rifle (gibbs) The early Gibbs rifles had shoddy glass on them. I hear the current ones have repro scopes made by hi-lux and are much better optics.

Hunting & Fishing Running into young animals

Re: Running into young animals Yotes ? Kill'em all. They will eat your dog and cat and cost farmers plenty by eating the young livestock. I have no remorse over killing any of them.

    Gunsmithing Removing a stuck barrel?

Re: Removing a stuck barrel? Heat that mother.....you wont get it hot enough with propane to do it any harm unless you camp out on it. Shouldnt take much anyway just make sure you heat the receiver all the way around. Had to do a Savage not long ago. They had evidently used some thread locker...

Hunting & Fishing 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill

Re: 715 Yard Muzzleloader Kill Im gonna call BS on this one. Even stoked up to max with a 45cal saboted bullet theres still gonna be a 20-30 ft drop or more at that range. Plus I even doubt his scope would have enough elevation to even put him in the ballpark without a drastic MOA base on it...

Hunting & Fishing Hunting 308 round

Re: Hunting 308 round Like the man said. Buy whats on sale at wally world , line it up and squeeze it off. Where it hits is more important than what you hit it with.......and all the baseline ammo is capable.

    SOLVED: Cycling Issue with AR

Re: Cycling Issue with AR Yeah that part is ok I think. Just sounds like you have something binding or perhaps its not getting enough gas on the bolt to do its thing due to gas leakage or misalignment....Im no whiz on these things but do own 2 or 3 and manage to keep them all running. Maybe...

    SOLVED: Cycling Issue with AR

Re: Cycling Issue with AR Which buffer are you using in it? Carbine or rifle? Sounds like for whatever reason your bolt isnt cycling all the way back. If not it wont lock back on empty or go far enough back to pick up the next round.

    Show 'em

Re: Show 'em This is a clone of the extremely rare Finnish m39 SOV sniper I built a couple years ago. I intended to keep it and compete in the CMP matches with it but the scope eye relief was all wrong for me and it weighed a freakin ton. I sold it soon after but it still was-is a nice weapon.

    nagant 91/30

Re: nagant 91/30 Yeah its chin for me too but to be accurate with the rifle the hold has to be repeatable. The longer the shot the more important this is. Ive found as others have that as you look thru the PU scope there will be a ghost of an image toward the bottom of the field of view. This...

    norinco m14 clone

Re: norinco m14 clone I have one (Polytech) but Im ashamed to say I havent fired it enough to give an honest opinion on it. It functions fine with no headspace issues and like the man said it is a forged receiver like the original-which puts it ahead of the cast Springfield imho.I have a good...

    nagant 91/30

Re: nagant 91/30 I also think the ATI scope mount is the only thing they make thats worth a flip and have used them on several rifles. However being a lazy person I dont find it necessarey to drill a 3rd hole in them. When I do one I change out the slotted screws for socket head so you can...

    Mosin Nagant trigger modification ?

Re: Mosin Nagant trigger modification ? Ive seen most of the mods both sold and free for the Mosin rifles. What has worked for me and doesnt cost a dime is to tweak (as in controlled bend) the sear trigger spring to overcome some of the tension, then use a very thin washer or o ring between...

    My HB Mosin

Re: My HB Mosin Tallshot I had Dirtyjim(over at surplusrifles) turn the barrel down A LOT......it started life as one of the surplus uk-59 machine gun barrels, then he made a sleeve the same diameter as the barrel that gave it a seamless look when I torqued the barrel down and headspaced it. I...
