Re: Lead bullets and polygonal rifling in pistols I wouldn't do it in a GLOCK, but have no problem slinging lead out of other handguns. Get yourself an aftermarket barrel if you want to sling lead. Re: Chambering the first round I've never really had any noticeable setback with .40 S&W. I carry Gold Dots in my SIG P229 and it never really happens. Didn't notice any with my GLOCK 23 either. Re: Your thoughts on a G29 I've owned both a 29 and a 23, and I'll say I was more accurate with the 23, perhaps due to the longer barrel, longer grip, and less powerful round. I will say though, I never felt the 29 was "too powerful". Practice shooting and you'll be fine.- Wiskey_33
