I have a 22-250 Savage LRPV with a 7 twist barrel. I use the Berger 90 gr. VLD bullet Wolf primers. The powder changes from H4350 & H1000. I think I run them at a very pleasant 2979fps. It has fairly routinely given me 6.250 - 7.500" 5 shot groups @ 1,000 yards. You can push them faster but...
I mostly shoot long range, that being from 400-1000 yards. I thought that my (2) S&B 12-50 FFP performed very well for me. While the scopes are big physically it didn't matter at the bench. Everything was great.........right up until I looked through the new NF 15-55 Competition scope. For...
Nice shooting. Glad you are out enjoying the Garand. I have a bunch of Greek HXP 63. If I am short on time I seat the bullet .020 farther into the case. By breaking the seal it helps a great deal. I pulled a bunch of the HXP63 & cleaned the tar type sealer off the bullets & found that the...
They were used as Police Marksman rifle. I believe that they were the first mass produced rifle with synthetic stocks. Mine was amazingly accurate with almost any ammo you chose to put in it. I don't remember the weight of the set trigger but it was very light. A wonderful rifle than never...
Having owned & shot both over several years my best handgun was the SV Infinity. It was my go to gun. I have recently had my "Bucket List" handgun built (1911 in 45 ACP) by JT Timmons owner of Timmon's Precision Weapons. (snommittj here on the Hide) After living with & shooting both Bucket...
Doyle Englin located in Winder, Ga. Dixie Gun Works I think, does excellent rimfire work. Really nice guy, excellent work with no surprises. Your project is ready when he said he would get it to you. No need to add extra time to the pickup date he gives you. Semper Fi
I had the chance to stop by Accurate Ordnance yesterday. (Nice guys by the way) They have at least 6 or 7 rifles already built ready to go. You'll have to call for caliber info. In speaking with the guys they are only 8 - 10 weeks out on builds that the customer has all the correct parts...
I think too many folks try to cut the experience "corners" and buy proficiency. I am all in favor of buying the best equipment you can afford. Regardless of the endeavor I have always tried to cover up my lack of talent with good equipment.
Let's have a Big "Hell Yeah" for the guys at Accurate Ordnance. A shop full of very personable very knowledgeable top flight guys. What's not to like? Not only do they build top notch stuff they are fun to hang out with. Thanks for what you guys do. Semper Fi
The CMP 40x's will take the Remington 700 1pc. Short Action bases. They will also take the 2 pc. Remington 700 bases. I don't know anything about the current production 40x's from the Remington Custom shop. Both of my CMP 40x's were produced in the mid 1950's. They both shoot extremely...
I have used H4831SC with 75 AMAX's with really good results. I would start out at 36.5 grs. & go up until you find pressure. I have never known of 36.5 being a problem. However you will not run into any problems starting at a lower charge. Semper Fi
Of the several suppressors that I own & use I like the Allen best of all. It is my most recent "can" but in a short time it has become my favorite. I use this 30 cal. "can" on a .284 Win. & am extremely happy with the results. For lack of a better term it shoots "gentle" on the .284. In my...
