I need a longer range 300WM. Have always hunted everything with a 300WM Winchester Model 70 in a McMillan Featherweight stock. Found a Savage BVSS and it looks very workable. I just need to have a couple of Savage folk tell me how good it is in real life. Thanks

I'm looking at a Rem 541-T with a shortened barrel.(17"). After doing a search here and reading a length/velocity experiment at Rimfire Shooting, it looks like the short barrel might improve handling with no significant detrimental effects on velocity or accuracy. Have I missed anything obvious?

I'm going from a SA 3rdGeneration mount to a Smith Enterprises mount. On the SA mount, the adjustment block is pinned to the receiver with a roll pin. How do I get the pin out without ruining something? Thanks
