New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Lots of good advice above.
Pay close attention to the items you will spend lots of hours in.
Have quality head to toe base layers, I like merino wool.
A quality sleeping setup, appropriate for the coldest typical weather expected.
^^ These two items can not possibly be overstated.

The glass on the 2.5-10 is perfectly suited to anything that you might want a 10x scope for.
The 4-16 has a slight edge, but it’s not enough to be an issue
Another option if you want to go down the rabbit trail, is 22 hornet. Most factory rifles have slow twist barrels that aren’t very sub friendly. But if you can find a 10 twist you will have some options with 55 ish grain bullets. But a 7-8 twist is better for 70+ grain bullets
It’s a Reap IR 35mm
I was trying to avoid this turning into a bash fest on Trijicon as these threads have a tendency to go that route.
They were polite and respectful just didn’t have any good options for repair in my circumstance. The only broken part according to them is the board. ($200.00)...
I’m curious if there is anyone who does or attempts thermal optics repair?
The tech used in thermal scopes is not something I understand well enough to consider doing myself.
I have an expensive thermal scope that needs repair and the manufacturer isn’t particularly interested.
If a guy wanted readily available factory match ammo, any AI calibers are a poor choice( despite being fine choices otherwise)
For the OP, 3006 is the easiest choice caliber wise. 308 / 6.5 cm may require a few rifle mods to feed perfectly but are great choices.
That reminds of USO back in the day. Not sure if they actually did “ build your own” but they had dozens of reticles they had used over the years and no one could say for sure what any given scope had. Mil ? Moa ? Iphy? Only God knows lol
My experience pretty much mirrors jbuck88.
The NF 2.5-10 outperforms its specs.
The 4-16 x42 ATACR is stellar and what I have on my long range hunting rifle.
I’m planning to check out the mk4hd 2-10 and 4.5-18 soon as well.
For coyotes the S3 and razor both seem like too much. The razor is a boat anchor, the S3 has a tight eye box and 45 mils of elevation.
Both are excellent optics but wouldn’t be my choice for hunting. The 4.5-18 mk4 would be my choice of the options listed. But I would generally prefer something...
Had one, it is well made and rigid.
I find the Xlr to fit my needs much better for a med weight chassis.
For true lightweight the hnt 26 is hard to beat
As mentioned above, insurance payout is 60 days from claim which is 2-4 weeks from sent date. Figure on 90 days if all goes well.
A surprising amount of “lost” items get “found” mysteriously days before the payout date.
I’m going to slightly side track as well, apologies in advance.
This question is a bit like asking what boots to buy or car to purchase. There are a lot of variables and it depends a lot on the user and purpose.
I settled on the 3m tep 200s about 5 yrs ago and have been very happy with them...
The 204 is a great choice for coyotes imo.
The 39 gr sierra and 40 nosler bullets are my favorite.
My last 12 yotes have been between 240 and 525 yds. None needed a second shot
