    Vortex PST for rimfire

Re: Vortex PST for rimfire I have the Vortex 6.5-20x44 Viper on my Cooper and it makes it much easier to see POI at 200 yds. I rarely, if ever shoot this rifle < 100 yds. The PST version is defintely "nice to have" but I only paid ~250 for my Viper.

    Suggest a rim fire rig?

Re: Suggest a rim fire rig? I think my Cooper 57M is an excellent complement to my GAP Crusader. I put mine together for ~1500 with Vortex Viper glass. Tiny targets at 200yds are no match for it.

Sidearms & Scatterguns M14 Bayonet Restoration

My son inherited a Korean war era M1 Garand Bayonet from his Grandfather. Overall it's in pretty good shape except for some rust. These bayonets seem to be fairly common so rather than let it continue to rust we are thinking about restoring it. The plan is to use CLR to remove the rust and then...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Why not ccw with hand loads

Re: Why not ccw with hand loads I use my own handloads for everything except CCW. The main reason? Litigation. Why give an attorney another reason to question your motives? Secondary reason? What if one of my handloads are fubar? Plus there are tons of excellent factory self-defense ammo...

Why NOT a 20 MOA picatinny rail on a 22 Long Rifle

Re: Why NOT a 20 MOA picatinny rail on a 22 Long Rifle Farrell Industries 20 MOA Picatinny Scope Base. Highly recommended.

    Which Scope for .22 Trainer

Re: Which Scope for .22 Trainer No, it's the plain Viper, NOT the PST with the exposed turrets. I paid 250 for it when I put my Cooper 57M together and I have 1800 total into it. It is a very nice complement to my GAP Crusader.

    First time @ 200

Re: First time @ 200 My range has a 2"x10" round steel cylinder at 200 yards. I consistently put groups on that so 1/2 MOA (excuse me!) with 22lr is not that unusual for a trained marksmen with a good gun and ammo. I'll have to try the clays at 400 sometime, sounds very challenging.

    Best of the "bulks"?

Re: Best of the "bulks"? My Cooper 57M likes Wolf Match Extra or SK Jagd Rifle Match the best. I'm going try the CCI SV next. I probably shoot 2000+ rounds/year so I don't mind spending a little more for better accuracy. It would be nice to spend ~$335 for 5000 rounds instead of $625 for the...

cleaning my new Anschutz (any .22 Barrel)

Re: cleaning my new Anschutz (any .22 Barrel) I rarely clean my Cooper bore, only when accuracy starts to fall off. I probably go ~2500+ rounds before cleaning and then I use Sentry Solutions moly treatment.

    Which Scope for .22 Trainer

Re: Which Scope for .22 Trainer I like my Vortex 6-24x, solid, repeatable zero, bright. I wish it had the exposed turrets. I think the newer ones do.

Tell us what you learned from trainers in 2010

Re: What we learned from our trainer in 2010.... 1. 22 trainers are really fun to shoot. 2. Wind has a big effect on results. 3. 200 yds minimum range. 4. Ammo makes a big difference. At least in my rifle ;-) 5. I don't have to reload. 6. It's way cheaper and quicker to go to the range...

    Suppressors 45 carry ammo

Re: 45 carry ammo There are several excellent choices any of which will produce the results they are designed for. I prefer the excellent Winchester SXT 230g for normal CCW use. I recently moved into a townhouse and now I realize I need to think about overpenetration of this round for my...

    Suppressors 357/38 ammo

I went to the gun store today intending to buy an S&W Model 642 for deep carry. Instead I spent 2X more on an S&W Model 340PD . I'm just glad I don't have to defend these decisions to anyone anymore. Does anyone here have a recommendation for 357 and 38 ammo for this little guy? Since it can...

Rimfire Optic for 25 yd to 200 yd?

Re: Rimfire Optic for 25 yd to 200 yd? I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 mil-dot in a Farrell 20moa base with Seekins 30mm rings on my Cooper 57M and it works great out to 300 yards. I think the scope is going for ~$300 now.

Rifle Scopes What Magnification Do you shoot 1K?

Re: What Magnification Do you shoot 1K? I find that I generally leave my scope on its max 16x power for most ranges up to 1k+ yards. That said mirage at 16x under certain conditions can almost be too much.
