I need advice on a rifle for a 7 year old

I've been teaching kids classes this summer. We did three First Steps Rifle classes last week. The Savage Rascal is great for kids up to 10 or so. We have three of them. The CZ Scout is the cream of the compact rifles IMO, very accurate and will "grow" with the kids by simply changing the stock...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

Problem solved. We tried it on the Savage and found it still shooting low left. My son suggested swapping the "barrel" of the suppressor end for end and reinstalling the internals. Why not? We'll it worked. I'm not sure why, but we are back on targets with and without suppressor. The moral of...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

Finally shot the CZ this afternoon. Same results, or maybe worse. It shot 10 inches low at 15 yards. I need to try the suppressor on may Savage tomorrow, just to confirm that it still shoots well with the suppressor. Then I'll call CZ. Yes, I have better quality ammo, but if the rifle shoots...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

The Aguila are the 38 grain variety. I found a case about 18 months ago for pre-panic prices and grabbed it. I'm at 24 on the torque right now. The rifle is shooting fine w/o the suppressor. I sure the problem was due to the suppressor being incorrectly assembled. We have eight CZ's which we...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

Well, I've been at work for a week now and I got to thinking about my suppressor problem. I called home and asked my son to take the suppressor apart and check to see if the baffles were facing the right direction. There were not. There's no one to blame but myself. He put them back in correctly...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

I shot again this evening. I did not notice any key holing. I shot prone off a bipod at 25 yards to be sure I would be on paper. Using Aguila SS HP, without the suppressor, the first 5 shot group was one ragged hole, no big deal at 25, but encouraging nonetheless. I disassembled the suppressor...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

I'll check on adding a spacer. Where did you get the spacer? I worked till dark today and didn't get to do much more than look down the barrel. Neither my son nor I can see that the suppressor is out of line with the barrel. I'll try and run some more rounds through it tomorrow.

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

I'll double check the seating good idea to look down the barrel and compare it to the FVSRs. I'll also disassemble it and look over. This was my first suppressor and I got it in 2009 from a guy who was just getting into building suppressors. At the time I thought it was a great deal, but I now...

How can I get my CZ 455 to shoot better with the suppressor?

I've got a rimfire suppressor made by a local shop. I've used it on my two FVSRs with good results. I just got a 1.5" 455 threaded American with plastic stock and took it out today. Using CCI SV, I got 6" "patterns" at 25 yards, two shots near each other 3 shots six inches away near each other...

Anschütz 64 MPR for tactical matches?

Thanks for the information. That's what I was looking for. I'd rather not have to do the supporting mods on the CZ. I'll be looking for a 64.

Anschütz 64 MPR for tactical matches?

Has anyone see this article? Rimfire Tactical Precision Match They recommend the model 64 MPR. I have several CZs and was thinking of adding a Lilja barrel to one of them. I'm now thinking of just going with a 64. Does anyone have any experience with the 64 as compared to a Lilja barreled CZ...

Which way to go...10/22 or CZ bolt?

I've been teaching kids and adults basic gun safety and marksmanship for the last 14 years. Kids will burn through a pile of ammo with semis. Bolt guns are far more efficient for teaching. I have both, but they only get to run a mag through the semi after they have proven themselves capable with...

    Grip Strength?

I've been using them off and on for about a year. I work out with the 1 on my left and the 1.5 on my right. I can close the 2 just a couple of times with my right hand and the 1.5 with my left. We do a lot of pistol shooting, so I bought them all for the family, Sport through #2. I think they...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

I'm am thoroughly enjoying my Daystate Huntsman XL. Things changed downrange from my house that ended my suppressed rimfire shooting. We started talking about moving to another area, but family and friends started getting bummed out by the potential move. I talked to my wife about a quality PCP...

    .22 Bolt Gun Suggestions...

CZ Scout for sure. I went with CZ Scouts for my three kids (and one for my wife). All of mine are accurate. They come with a single shot adapter and 5 and 10 round mags are available. The sights are not target sights, but serve well for learning to shoot open sights. They are easy to scope...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

Pacifier or not I just bought a Daystate Huntsman XL. I've been shooting my TX200, but decided to step into the PCP world. Ted's Holdover did a review of the Classic. When I got to looking for them online, what really caught my eye with the Huntsman was the 6.2# weight. I went with the XL for...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

I too would rather be shooting center fire at distance, but time is the major factor. Travel to and from a suitable range is a time thief. A day is easily gone. I am a shooter and air guns help me shoot more. Like others have said, shooting in the back yard at a moments notice is fantastic. I...
