    Shotgun wing shooters

I would add not to be afraid to ask someone experienced to go shoot sporting clays or just gravel pit clays with you. I learned more in an afternoon in a gravel pit with an instructor in an afternoon that I had in years previous. That has paid serious dividends.

    Buying my first bow

I bought a used bow from a friend who is near identical sized to me. I called a shop and asked them what they charged to fit bows, it was less than $100. I got great service, bought arrows for the bow there, got fit very well with a new peep etc, and had a great time. I tipped the guy better...

    Off Topic Stock Question

Thank you for the replies! To clarify, the crack is quite active and extends through the wrist. It’s not useable and I wouldn’t fire it for fear of it coming apart. It is not a family heirloom, and it was purchased for very little, (think used 870 money.) I’m interested in repairing it to use...

    My Walther WA2000.

    Off Topic Stock Question

First, thank you for all the advice and knowledge here. I usually just enjoy reading and try to learn something. It’s a pleasure to hang out and simply be around. I have acquired a beauty of an old German shotgun by Emil Kerner and Sohn. It’s a 12 bore, and quite well made from what I can tell...

    Do I need a shotgun?

Nothing like a good old 870. I have two, a bird barrel one from my grandfather, and a mutt I got later as a slug gun. The former is a bit older than Your’s. The later had a broken stock that I replaced and added a modern recoil pad. They’re both excellent firearms that’ll never leave the family.

    Tikka T3X Varmint- Bottom Metal

Does her varmint have the factory plastic dbm set up, or a CTR now? I switched TO the CTR set up specifically for the mags for my Scout in .223. I’m very happy with the set up. Mags are great, shorter height than others, plenty long OAL, and feed great. Mags are a bit more money, but CTR dbm’s...

Tikka CTR vs CZ 557 vs Steyr SSG 69

Love my Tikka’s. My CZ’s are great, but they are essentially stock for obvious reasons. I shoot the Tikkas way more, and for more practical reasons.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Does anyone shoot an airgun?

I went to the small end of things with my latest air rifle purchase. Little Weihrauch HW30S. 177 at slower speeds, easy cocking, and scoped with a Leupold Vari X 1-4 it’s a treat for in town pests in the backyard. Shoot it into a trap for offhand practice in the basement as well. It’s a treat to...

Thanks for that suggestion. I’ve been looking and there are a few within the state. Still would have to ship it, but I’ve got some emails out.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Blade re-grind help

Thanks for the reply. I’m just south of Minneapolis. Currently it’s a convex grind, looking to get it changed to a flat grind similar to my Cold Steel Master Hunter. I plan to use it as a general purpose, larger game hunting knife, and carrying in the woods largely for sentimental reasons...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Blade re-grind help

Hi all, looking for some help on a knife I have. My grandpa passed recently, and left me his home tool boxes and tools. In a drawer was this knife. It’s clearly a home built job, of some sort of stainless. It’s had a rough life living as a shop tool and being stored without a sheath. The thing...

Hunting Match Rifle seems like a misnomer

Buy a Tikka and a decent scope in a caliber suited to what you plan to hunt and start researching options on a match gun. The used guns on here often offer big value for the dollar once you’ve decided what to watch for.

Hunting & Fishing Stand hunting outer layer

I’ve had really good luck with most things I’ve ordered from Sitka. When I’ve had issues, they’ve been responsive. I’ve become a fan of lighter weight shells and layers to build up too. Waterproof when necessary, soft shell and quiet when not. I went away from the big insulated bibs and...

    Hunting & Fishing Muzzleloader advice...

I have had great luck with my TC Triumph, Blackhorn, and 240gn XTP’s. I don’t shoot a max load of powder, found more than acceptable accuracy and a lot more comfortable shooting at 20% or so off max, 80gn if I recall correctly. At the ranges I have to shoot the additional drop is nothing...

    IDF Mauser M-66 SP

Lovely. I had the pleasure to shoot a Model 66 in .375 H and H at the range once. Stunning action, super smooth and definitely unique. I’ve never seen another locally.
