    witt machine

We've got more than a thousand of these out there to date. I don't believe he would be a "guinea pig". We make threaded brakes as well, but for some folks a clamp on brake just makes more sense. There are lots of pictures on our website, Witt Machine Thanks, Ken

    Gunsmithing Mauser Build

Re: Mauser Build I'll let you know how it goes. My idea was to shoot it until the barrel wore out - should'nt take too long. Then replace the barrel with one that was melonite treated and see how much longer it lasts.

    Gunsmithing Mauser Build

Re: Mauser Build Got some more work done on the first Mauser this week. The barrel is threaded and chambered, but didn't get any pictures of it. I was using the bald eagle reamer holder and everything worked out well on that end. Here is a picture of the muzzle end getting crowned and...

Re: Mauser Build What hardness or Rockwell number should I be looking for in the receiver?

    Gunsmithing Mauser Build

Re: Mauser Build Thanks for the advice. The way I understood it was that the receiver was case hardend and the bolt was through hardend? At the beginning I was coloring the lugs on the bolt with a sharpie and testing the contact. Then used a fine file to go over the exposed metal until...

    Gunsmithing Mauser Build

So last week I bought two Mauser Rifles and got them in today. I am currently attending the machining program at Trinidad State Junior College in Alamosa, CO. Not the gunsmithing program in Trinidad, but the faculty has been very helpful. The plan is to tear the rifles down, and turn them...

any one have solar panels ?

Re: any one have solar panels ? When I figured the discharge rate it had to be a different formula. I was aiming for around 20%. I am going to study some.

any one have solar panels ?

Re: any one have solar panels ? I have the one string of 8 225ah batteries at present. The battery storage part is still somewhat confusing to me. Even with 8 225ah batteries I still only have 225ah's. But then they are never discharged to use all of them. On the other hand when the...

any one have solar panels ?

Re: any one have solar panels ? How much did the guy spend on 60 2V batteries? I bet he could have built another house or two! Sorry about the panel mistake, I was looking at the post above mine. There are 6 panels at 180 watts each. If you figure on six hours of sun per day in the...

any one have solar panels ?

Re: any one have solar panels ? Our total cost was less than 6000.00, however, I bought used inverter and panels. The batteries were around 1000.00 for all eight, brand new, with connecting cables. There is a huge segment of the population that looked into solar a few years ago and have...

any one have solar panels ?

Re: any one have solar panels ? I live off the grid in Colorado at about 8500'. Your location will determine how many batteries, panels, etc. you require. I am using 6 panels, and 8 batteries on a 48 volt system. My wife, daughter, and I really don't worry about the power too much and use...

Rifle Scopes Best all around binoculars

Re: Best all around binoculars You might look at the ones from Kowa, especially if you wear glasses. The eye cups adjust for your glasses/eyepro.

    bore cleaner?

Re: bore cleaner? The best thing I've ever used is a half and half mix of Kroil Oil and Shooters Choice. I still use copper solvent, lead remover (rimfire), and Montana Extreme Oil on occasion, but not nearly as much as the above.

    Stop Resisting

Re: Stop Resisting Its amazing to me how many cops, at least the more vocal ones, are so quick to say, "well he deserved it", or "adrenaline was really kicking in" Seriously, sometimes you have to realize that being a cop does NOT make you above the law you are supposedly upholding, all the...

Rifle Scopes Spotting Scope - which one? High end!

Re: Spotting Scope - which one? High end! I have one of the new Kowa 82mm spotters and at 600 yds I have never been able to see a .30 bullet hole on regular paper targets. 300yd .22 holes are visible on some days though. Is mine broke, or is it just not possible because of atmosphere?

Hunting & Fishing For all you Wolf lovers, here you can vote no.

Re: For all you Wolf lovers, here you can vote no. I wish the people posting comments on that page would have to list the state/town where they live. Some of those comments have to come from tree hugging hippies in places like Berkely. Wish it was possible to score each one, on a...

    Pics of where you shoot

    Gunsmithing AR trigger

Re: AR trigger There isn't a whole lot to the factory triggers. An hour or so with some ceramic stones would probably make a huge difference. If you didn't like it once done you could always spend the money on a new trigger later.
