I have donated a lot of reamers to the community pot. Every time I want a new caliber, I buy the reamer and leave it at my buddies. It's a small price to pay for chambering, truing and muzzle brake install. I can't say it'll be cheaper for me to own a lathe, but I've always wanted one...
I'm not sure what the distance through the head stock is, but the hole is 1 7/16". I'll check out athur warner. Thanks Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
If anyone has any tooling laying around that I may need PM me the detail and price. I have been looking for a lathe for awhile now and the stars finally aligned. I bought it dirt cheap, within 30 miles and it came with a few extras. Its covered in grime, but it looks like it wasn't...
I did put it together myself. My buddy has a lathe. I like the black bolt and stainless action, but was a little undecided about doing the black barrel and stainless brake. I really like it though. It came together well.
Its a sweet stock. It balances nice, especially for being so lightweight. Stock color is Durcoat Tactical Extreme Gray with some Tactical Black flecks.
I finished up my 6.5X47 Lapua recently and I thought I would share the details. Here are the specs PTG 6.5x47 .294 neck .140 FB reamer Trued 700 Action Brux Barrel - Modified Rem varmint contour - 26", .800 at the muzzle PTG 1 piece fluted bolt. PTG .200" lug PTG Aluminum BM...
My bro in law got bit by the bug from me sending him pictures of my guns and long range shooting. He "commissioned" me to put a gun together for him...gave me no budget. He just wanted it to be big, nasty and loud. I did all of the threading and chambering on my buddies lathe (with his...
I dont know if this has been covered, but here is my take on how to "clean" up the reveal between your barrel and stock I recently rechambered a gun with a smaller contour barrel and I had a large, uneven gap between the barrel and the stock. I know this is only aesthetic, but I like my guns...
Here is a link for a brake ROSS SCHULERS PAGE I have used several of Ross Schulers brakes and they are wonderful. A very close design to a Holland brake, but its a 3rd of the cost. You will be hard pressed to find another brake for this price, let alone a better brake period.
I just put together a 6.5x47 and took it to the range today. I loaded up some lighter loads of Varget (36 grains) and 123 Amax just to put some shots through it. I shot a few out of a brand new barrel and then cleaned it up. I noticed some unburned powder when I ran a patch through it...It...

Re: Not all machinists can be gunsmiths. Thats beautiful. Its almost as good as the guy selling a rare snommis scope......."simmons" mounted upside down. Absolutely priceless.
