Re: 308 over 270???? I've had a 270 i the past and one of the things that really limits the 270 are the available bullets. There are more 30cal bullets to choose from, match grade and hunting.

Re: Going 6.5 Grendel... need some input... LAK do you reload? or are you planning on purchasing factory ammo? I would go with the 24" barrel if weight difference isn't that big since any extra velocity will benefit them 6.5s.

Re: groups at 500yrds Your load is ok but have you tried heavier bullets? 69gr or 77gr Match bullets should help a little, whats the twist rate on your barrel though? I would also recommend deburring the primer flash hole if your not doing so already.

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua v .243 Win I vote 6.5 Lapua. The difference in brass lost will be outweighed by the extra barrel life and larger variety of bullets available for the 6.5mm
