Best 5.56 grain for 1:7 SPR

I used 77 smks for years with good results. However, I noticed that their price kept creeping up, and that the Berger 73s were available in 1,000 round boxes which made the price pretty much the same. A few different well-known respected shooters encouraged me to try the 73s, I'm glad I did...

Best 5.56 grain for 1:7 SPR

My particular results have been Berger 73, Berger 77, and 77 Sierra matchking, 69 SMK, in that order. You'll need to experiment to see what your barrel likes best.

    AR10 barrel gunsmiths

I have a 16" Bartlein from Craddock in 223 for my LMT. It's the most accurate gas gun I've ever shot, and it's basically a practical weight fighting carbine. Highly recommend these barrels

    LMT .308 MWS

I totally understand that, I am very happy with the two small frame barrels he converted for me. What large frame barrels do people tend to get the best results from? I was thinking either Bartlein or Proof solid stainless. I'm going to look around to see if I can find a Krieger in stock...

    LMT .308 MWS

Does anyone have any accuracy reviews or range reports for D Wilson converted large frame barrels? My factory LMT 6.5 CM 20" SS has a bunch of rounds on it, it's on borrowed time, I'm thinking about biting the bullet and ordering a Bartlein from Craddock. D Wilson did a conversion using one of...

    My 6GT AR-10

That's a really cool project. Personally, I go with what I know works, but if everyone had my mindset, there would be no advancement. Please keep us updated.

GEISSELE MRGG 6.5 CREED WRITE UP AND REVIEW

I was genuinely curious how that load would shoot. I read that it is h4350 with a Berger 140 hybrid, COL of 2.815" I believe. I handload and have tested several loads quite a bit for my LMT 6.5 20" SS barrel. I get similar performance with the same handload. Certainly decent, but not...

    AR-15 Barrel Advice

I'm not trying to sway you into spending more money on a barrel, but I think people look at the price of a barrel without factoring in the full cost. It can cost $5,000 - $10,000 in ammunition to wear out a barrel. If spending an extra couple hundred dollars on the front end gives me...

Looking for an an affordable and accurate AR-15

As someone who owns several AR rifles, I will give you my thoughts. IMHO, perhaps the most likely and affordable way to buy an AR that is going to be very accurate would be to buy a cheaper AR that skimps on the barrel, and budget an additional $300 to buy a premium barrel separately from the...

GEISSELE MRGG 6.5 CREED WRITE UP AND REVIEW

I'm pretty sure it is their standard weight, stainless steel 5r cut rifle 14.5" My LMT 6.5 20" stainless steel 5R cut rifled barrel actually shoots really well for a factory AR10 barrel, consistently under 1 MOA with Berger 130g Hybrids after I got a couple hundred rounds through it

GEISSELE MRGG 6.5 CREED WRITE UP AND REVIEW

It seems like this is military and government procurement epitomized. I love my LMT rifles, and I'm happy they were awarded a contract with the US military. That said, it seems like it makes all the sense in the world to use the same platform for both the assaulter and the sniper versions. I...

    LMT .308 MWS

Thanks! I'm sure it's just a lack of focus on my part, but I tend to shoot smaller in terms of MOA at 300 yards than I do at 100. It's the same thing with my bolt-action rifles. Part of it is probably me shooting the center out of my aiming point at 100, but I'm sure part of it is my getting...

    LMT .308 MWS

How do those barrels shoot? Kicking around the idea of buying one, but probably will buy an 18" Bartlein from Craddock instead and have D Wilson convert it Regardless, very nice rifle

    LMT .308 MWS

I shot my LMT 6.5 CM 20" at 100 and 300 yards today to re-zero. I just got the scope back from Nightforce, The parallax got out of whack internally somehow, they were pretty good about repairing it under warranty, but it did take 6 weeks. Overall, I'm impressed with this rifle. Every group was...

    6.5 Creedmoor

Those Berger 130 Hybrids with RL16 and/or H4350 are a hidden gem. Like you, I'm getting about 2,900 FPS and tiny groups. I shot a .63" 5 shot group at 305 yards yesterday using this load through my AI AT-X last night. I'm pretty sure that's the smallest 5 round group I've ever shot at 300...

Geissele Cut Rifled SPR Build and Barrel Evaluation. (Part 4 (Load Development 28MAY25) Update!!!

How much bump do you guys use when hand loading for an AR? I've always used -.004" for gas guns, I've never experimented with less

Why are AR15s so difficult to shoot for the average shooter?

Everyone else has mentioned the big contributors. Keep in mind that the trigger lock time on a bolt-action rifle is somewhere around 2-3 milliseconds. For a mil-spec AR trigger that is heavier and gritty, the lock time can be as much as 15 milliseconds. So basically the rifle has more time to...

Geissele GFR Maritime Reconnaissance 6mm arc write up and review

I'm doing the same. Waiting for an Ambi 18" CHF chrome-lined barrel in DDC. I don't know if the weight measurements online are correct, but it looks like the strato match version with the cut rifled barrel is significantly heavier. 7.8 pounds vs 9.4 pounds in the 18" versions. Either way...

Geissele GFR Maritime Reconnaissance 6mm arc write up and review

I'd like to see a comparison between the two in terms of accuracy. I'm actually leaning toward CHF, as Geissele seems to make pretty accurate chrome lined barrels. It would be nice not worrying about barrel life for a long time.

If you want a Geissele GFR Maritime rifle

I had the 18" DDC in my cart at primary arms yesterday, I was really close to pulling the trigger, but I told myself I was going to hold out for the Ambi version. I'm always happier in the end if I don't compromise, even if it means waiting longer and spending a little bit more money. I have...
