Looks good, I recommend using iron sights for the appleseed shoots. Targets are at 25 yards and proportioned to simulate 500 yards.

Keep your eyes open for a used Leupold VX III, they are nice glass and people upgrade from older 10x fixed power scopes and put their old one on sale.

I went with a DSA stripper-clip guide scope mount for my Elcan on my PARA FAL.... Not enough clearance to load with strippers (rifle has fixed 10 round mag). I'm worried that sparks/debris etc from the opening ejection port could scratch/damage my scope lens. Should I go to the full rail mount...

I'm not sure the right way (or really how to) clean the actual gas port at the top of the barrel but that could possibly gummed up). Sounds like not getting enough gas.

Not mine but I have one set up the same way, with a nice trigger job and recoil buffer. Very sweet shooter, never FTF or FTE Groups tighted up around 65% (did all upgrades at once so I can't say what helped the most) I have a spotting scope inbound, hope to get some pics of groups soon.

Glad to hear the reviews here on the Konus, I'm really looking hard at that one. I just sold an Aimpoint 2X because after putting the Elcan Spectre 1.5-6x on a rifle, everything else pretty much PALES in comparison. I just want to see .308 hits on paper out to 2-300 on shoot-n-c targets.
