That's a piece of history. Keep it. Having said that, if you really must part with it, I will give you $10 and the majority of my sons Lego collection for it.....
I don't think the mbus sights will fit. ARMS rear sights will fit however, including the polymer versions. The KAC 600M Micro will also fit without issue.
I'd go with the Precision Reflex Inc. MK12 Mod 0 upper over the BCM Mod 0 upper. The PRI version is considerably cheaper, comes with a rear sight and uses a Douglas barrel. Be sure to apply for their Mil/LE discount if possible.
The EFX-A1 stock from MAGS LLC. might be worth looking into. It's built to the shorter A1 length, and has sloping sides for an excellent cheekweld. It's lighter than a UBR stock, but not exactly what I would call "lightweight" as it is very solidly built. I run one on my SPR, it seems to...
14.5" will get out to 500 yards, but the velocity loss will make it less consistent than the same load out of a 16" or 18" barrel. I took my latest 5.56 build (a 14.5" RECCE/SPR style) out over the weekend for it's first trip to the range. I have steel set up at 400 and 650 yards for the 5.56...
Specs for the 14.5" Mod 0-ish rifle: Upper: -Palmetto State Armory stripped blem upper -R-Guns Nickel Boron coated BCG -Rainier Arms "Select" 14.5" SS 300 Blackout barrel (Made by Black Hole Weaponry) -Precision Reflex Inc. Gen III carbon fiber forend (Plain version with no holes) -Ops...
I built this Mod 0 style rifle in 300 BLK using a 14.5" barrel. Going less than 18" will require some creativity for front sight options, especially if you want to keep the ability to run an Ops can on it at some point. Due to how far the Ops 12th reflexes back over the barrel, the front...
With the added height of the top rail on a Mod 0, medium rings should clear most back up sights like the ARMS 40 or Matech. With a lower profile sight like a KAC 600 Micro or ARMS 40L, you might be able to get away with using low rings. I would try it first with a pair of cheap import rings to...
The MAGS LLC EFX-A1 is a decent option for a fixed stock. It's built to the shorter A1 LOP, which I find more to my liking than the A2 or longer PRS length. The cheekweld is great on this stock, lots of surface area at a nice angle. Overall weight falls somewhere between a standard A2 stock...
On a budget, the Bergara barrels sold by Precision Reflex are worth looking into. They are made in Spain from locally sourced stainless and button rifled using a process they brought in Ed Shilen to develop. I run one of their 18" SPR barrels and have been extremely impressed by it's ability...
If you want to go below a 14" barrel, I'd suggest going with 300 Blackout as it's design is optimized for use with shorter barrels. Bullet selection is huge for the 300 as well, anything from 110 grains all the way up to 230+.
Trigger reset is a key part of consistency with a semi auto. The release from the disconnector to the sear should be an entirely seperate operation from the trigger pull. I can't comprehend the physics behind this myself, definitely not well enough to offer an explanations other than to say it...
Thanks :) The color is a mix of Burnt Bronze and Armor Black Cerakote. The ratio was 10:3 Bronze-Black. It took a while to find a good ratio that didn't end up looking like either gunmetal gray, or just like Burnt Bronze. I really like the PRI tubes. Light, rigid, easy to install and they...
True. But just because they CAN, doesn't mean they SHOULD. Common sense should factor in there somewhere and tell them this is pretty stupid to kamikaze themselves over an internet post. Haven't they seen similar "Business vs Interwebs" situations like this play themselves out before?
I still can't seem to get the recipe right. Every time I try for a Mod 0 build, I end up doing it wrong. This one ended up about 3.5" short, and chambered in 300 Blackout.... Weird, right?
Seems like there might be some sense in having the hole get progressively tighter through each baffle. Allowing a bit more high pressure gas to follow through with the bullet will allow more of it to contact the face of the next baffle in line, effectively "spreading the load" across several...
