    Palma/Prone Stock Choices

Competition Machine (Gary Eliseo) makes a great turn-key stock for many actions. Many of the US Nation team / Veteran Team folks use them. I also know a Palma shooter that works at EGW that make a Barnard P stock that looks like a Tubb 2000 stock. Send me a PM if you want this contact.

    6.5 Staball disappointing

Yes, yes, it is a "hot load" according to the published loads. I did work up to this load (incrementally) and was also using SRP Lapua brass with a good amount of jump. I didn't see pressure signs but don't recommend the load as this powder is not worth anyones time. P.S. I've been using the...

.308 Winchester load data using small rifle primers

I recommend small rifle magnum primers, military primers (i.e. CCI 41), or primers will a long flame lime Remington 7-1/2 for the SRP .308 brass. These primers usually have more primer compound and help ignite (more flame) the larger case capacity of the .308 case volume.

    1:12 twist.308 win bullet recommendations

My experience shooting 30" .308 Palma rifles is that 1:12 twist may be too slow for heavier bullets over ~170 grain, especially for long range (out to 800-900 M). The 1:12 twist works great for 155 grain & under bullets. Sierra makes a 168 HPBT hunting bullet (very much like the Matchking) but...

    Ginex primers?

I use the "PRIMER 4,5/3-N .60 mm cup .027g charge" in Lapua SRP .308 Palma brass with a 155.5 Berger fullbore & 46.5 grains of Varget. Works great and gave me some better groups as compared to the same load with Lapua LRP brass with Wolf LRP. This rifle primer is great for older brass with...

    6.5 Staball disappointing

PS - Hunting buddy came up with the same conclusion, very dirty and so-so. Tikka Coyote load: 120 grain OTM Privi Partisan tips with 45.3 grn of 6.5 Staball, 1.740 OAL.

    6.5 Staball disappointing

I agree. I bought this when it was the only thing around (2020) and I now hate it. 6.5 Staball is disappointing and no where near as good as H4350 (a relabed ADI powder that is) in the 6.5 CM. I did work a load up with 45 grain of 6.5 Staball with a 139 Lapua and it did shoot well.... until the...

    Hodgdon Hybrid 100V powder for 6.5cm & 6x47 Lapua

Back during the scam-demic, I bought Hodgdon Hybrid 100V powder as a replacement for unavailable H4350. The second reason was that Hybrid 100V fits the gap for H4350 and H4831. Now with the new price increases with powder from Hodgdon (especially re-branded ADI powders), Hybrid 100V may be a...

    .308 - Sierra 169 SMK loads

A few years ago, Sierra came out with the 169 SMK in an attempt to iron out the short comings of the 168 SMK especially past 800 yards. Has anyone worked up any loads for .308 with the 169's that they have shot past 800 yards? Do share. My pet load for .308 WIN 168 SMK's (300-600 yard) in a...

6.5 creedmoor vs. .308 win for beginners

I shoot both .308 in Palma (155 grn) & 6.5 Creedmoor (136-140 grn) both at 600 (MR) & 1000 (LR) yards on KD ranges. Both have the highest in commercial availability; most in selection of components with attractive lower costs. Barrels life and accuracy (comparable ballistics) is great too. .308...

    Copper fouling questions

41.7grn of H4350 is my load for 136 L. I just rolled over 1K round count on a Bartlein 5R 30” pipe and no significant copper at the crown like yours (yet). After ~100 rounds I do a nylon brush & nitro solvent type cleaning. After 500 rounds I do a good powder & copper removing cleaning using the...
