    5.56 AR Only Loads

Where/How did you source the Shell Shock NAS3 cases to load? Those seem really interesting. I'm getting similar velocity, but from a stout load of Varget in a 24" barrel. These do show some pressure signs with ejector smears and flattened edge of primers. I haven't loaded them in those cases...

^Double cannelure? I've never seen that before. How odd

    Small varmint kills (the bastards!)

They're not all that big, but yeah they burrow some extensive holes. Yup, CA near Paso Robles.

    Walnut media size

I've been using walnut sand blasting media from Harbor Freight. The medium 12 grit seems to get stuck in the flash holes like you said, so much that I run a universal decapper in station 1 of a Dillon 650 when I reload 223. I've since switched to their 24 grit fine media and it doesn't stick in...

    Small varmint kills (the bastards!)

It's not the camera angle, they're huge when they fully mature. These mommas and some of the large males are has big as my boot! Body 12" long and 4+" across. Then on the other end, some of the babies are barely an inch wide. I started shooting squirrels here when I was a kid. Dad brought out...

    Small varmint kills (the bastards!)

Got out to my cousin's ranch this weekend to clobber some ground squirrels. 57 Friday including two doubles and 44 today. High grass and lots of tiny young ones made for some challenging shooting.

    What's the Go-To 223 Brass Now?

Is it any different from other Federal 223 brass? I've read lots of reports that Federal brass is soft. Haven't loaded enough of it myself to tell a difference. To answer the OP - I've always had good luck with LC brass.

    5.56 AR Only Loads

Interesting. TLDR: Case volume matters a lot at the upper end of pressure. I found it interesting you're not getting any pressure signs with that load. I've been loading some 77gr SMK 2nds @2.255" and 25.0gr of TAC for spinner targets in 3gun. I got some ejector smears on the brass and can tell...

    Powder IN-STOCK thread

That's good to hear. I was hesitant to buy some but gave in and ordered the last 5 boxes. They should be on the way to me soon. Hopefully it won't get caught in an order snafu like you had.

    Powder IN-STOCK thread

Based on the AR title "Match Varmint" I thought they were the Mead 85gr, but they list their OAL as 1.129, so I guess it's not them. https://meadammo.com/product/22-caliber-224-dia-85gr-bthp-varmint-match-100-per-box/ DANG IT, missed the H4895 at AR. That would have been nice.

    Ballistic advantage Hanson Barrels

I ran a 16" BA Hansen midlength 0.625" gas journal barrel in my 3gun rifle for years and it served me very well. I do remember one year at Surefire World Multigun Championship, there was a stage with a ton of rifle paper hozer and then steel targets out to ~450 up a ravine. I hammered those...

    New 77g 224 bullet

Anyone else have any more experience with these? Do they load ok at AR mag length? Is their stated BC accurate? Was that from an AR Or bolt gun? American Reloading has Blems that may be these bullets. Only thing I'm going off of at the moment is the name in the description. No other...

    223 rem bullet choice 1-300

For 3gun and gas gun matches my go to is the 69gr SMK with a stout load of H4895. I've also used Tac, friends of mine swear by Varget and N140. To answer the OP: I used to use the 53gr V-max for 3gun with good results. Most of our "long range" targets were 2-400 yards. I could get enough...

Charing handle popping loose - CMMG MK-3 308

Reading through their "Support" and partial warranty scared me away, but you're right. No harm in asking. I sent in a support message. Thanks.

Charing handle popping loose - CMMG MK-3 308

I have a CMMG MK-3 308 and when I shoot it, the charging handle is popping loose when it's fired and reciprocating, sometimes hitting me in the face. This was my fault. I reloaded some ammo that didn't get sized enough, got stuck in the chamber during a rifle match and I had to mortar the...

    AR15 223/5.56 Hornady 62 ELD-VT Reloads?

Hodgdon's load data lists 2.400" as the OAL, far greater than the AR mag length 2.260". So you'd have to single load in an AR or run it in a bolt gun. I'd be interested to see how much velocity you could get from it in a bolt gun.

    Imported carbon fiber tripod (RT90C)

I'm 6' 2" and find the height works well. If I stand up straight I'm just looking over the binos when glassing. I like to stand a little wider anyway. At 6' 5" you might find it too low.

    Imported carbon fiber tripod (RT90C)

I initially bought the RT90C to use as a spotting platform for precision matches. After going through some different ball heads I settled on the Sunwayfoto IB-30. I've gone on to use it to great success for varmint hunting, shooting squirrels standing off the tripod from point blank to 200 yards...

16" and 21" Apogee Match Barrels targets (AR22 platform no targets omitted)

Check out some of the NRL22 COF. It's a sort of "Postal match" where everyone shoots the same core stages and then MDs add a few extra one-off stages. They can build the stages all within 100 yards, or use option 2 out to 200 yards. The outlaw match I shot last year had a target out to...

16" and 21" Apogee Match Barrels targets (AR22 platform no targets omitted)

I shot an NRL22 match with an AR22 with an 18" CMMG upper. It would hold right around or under 1" at 50 yards. Shooting the match felt like the PRS style gas gun matches I've shot, very fun. But I finished last. That AR just doesn't have the accuracy to hang with the bolt guns. I saw this...
