My most reliable 41 is a pre-A model, using new S&W magazines, new recoil springs every 3,000 rounds and SK+ ammo. Much more reliable than any of my various Hamden High Standards. It can’t compete with my Pardini SP-22, but it is beautifully polished, accurate enough and typically only one...
I have a Colt 9mm 6951. I would like to buy some spares such as the stainless steel trigger pins, similar bolt and fcg. Anybody know who has these that isn’t a Chinesium dealer in disguise? Thanks for your help. Amanda
Those groups look like some of the 95gr. SMK groups from my CLE .224 Valkyrie with 1:6.5” twist Varmint weight barrel. The CLE folks are top-notch. Now if I could just talk them into a Valkyrie barrel chambered and installed in my 700.🤷🏻♂️
Stopped by my LGS to look at what they told me was a new Remmy 700 short action rifle. They had three in stock. All were look-alikes with an RAR prefix serial number. The counter guy had never heard about the Alpha models, the change to a bolt release on the action body, or any other changes. I...
Mine looks like yours in the finish department. I suspect it has an electroless nickel coating, but have never found out what it really is. Mine is a 1:9 twist. If the new 700s are a 1:7 or 1:8, I’ll need to locate one.
One of my Radian Raptor charging handles failed last week. The left side latch hook sheared off and was only noticed when removing the bcg for cleaning. The fracture appeared to be at a porous casting area. I called Radian up, sent them a few pictures, and asked for a new left side replacement...
Called Bergara after I found out my HMR PRO .300 WM wouldn’t ignite CCI-34 NATO spec primers. Ever. Bergara service rep said they would send me a new spring, and it would work. He did, and it worked. Wolff couldn’t help, nor Brownells. The spring is longer than the original, and a bit harder to...
Replaced firing pin and spring. Midway provided the parts, which were marked as made by the dreaded PTG. Spring was only 14lbs., and the pin is a full-diameter model, not a lightweight. Set off 200 rounds with CCI-41 primers today.👍
I used my SPS. The chassis turned it from a 1.5” @ 100yards to .5”. The factory stock was awful. Only thing different about it is the Timney trigger. The action is smooth, it feeds from the plastic AICS type mags, and is accurate enough for me and the silhouettes. Enjoy not spending Barrel and...
Seems I gloated too soon. One of the new Accurate mags feeds ok. Most of the time. It worked fine for thirty rounds, then started having problems. At the range today, I had three Accurate Mag .223 magazines loaded with 9 rounds each, hoping they would work ok if loaded down 1 round. One mag...
I adjusted the spring to put more pressure on the front of the follower, and sanded the side contact areas of the follower. It feeds 10 dummy rounds fine now. The two new mags I got from Midway don’t have the problem. As much as they cost, I was glad those two had no problems.
I placed a Bergara HMR Pro .300 WinMag in an AX-AICS Folder. Perfect fit, improved grouping ability due to the chassis being so easily adjustable to suit. As long as your action footprint is Rem700 equivalent, I don’t know why you would have an issue, unless you find it hard to make an AICS...
I will try that, if the design allows much movement. The spring is attached through a hole, drilled into the plastic follower. Thanks for clearing that up. Probably a reason that I am not a mechanical engineer 🐶
Since it was the only mag I had at the time, I left it alone. After using the rifle as a single shot for today’s chronograph work, I took the mag apart. I stretched the spring out, but the follower is a piece of formed plastic, not able to bend it. I received two new mags from Midway this...
After changing my mind about buying a KRG, I bought an AT-X chassis from MH. Stuck my .223 Remington SPS 5-R in it, and found out the difference the chassis makes compared to the factory Hogey Samich rubber stock. Group size using 69gr Noslers went from 1.5” to <0.5” at 100 yards. The chassis is...
