Re: m1 carbine I tried heating it once but was affraid to get it to hot and thought I might damage the barrel somehow. I will try letting it soak first, then try heat again. Thanks for the advice- bulldog40

I have a universal carbine with a front sight that has a set screw. I got a new bayonet lug piece to put on it to replace the one on there now.
