Normally (typical loads) 30-06 would kick noticeably more than 308. For some shooters this would negatively affect accuracy. No arguments that 30-06 is a very versatile round. My personal choices: for practice - the most common = 308. For 1000m+ precision - 260 Rem. For 1500m+ - 338 LM (or call...
Sad... In that case, perhaps a used one? If that old DT mount isn't around any more - what are the alternatives? There are decent Seekins rings in35mm, but LR requires a canted base - and I don't think it's an option with DT...? Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using...
Old (I'm not sure if DT still makes them in 35mm) DTA 40 MOA integrated base with rings would be the best, IMHO and in my experience. Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Gen I Vortex Razor is a great scope and I enjoy it. If I had money,or started from scratch, I'd replaced it with Vortex Gen II 4.5-27. Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
As posted elsewhere, my favorite replacement stock for Rem 700 is AICS. A bitch to carry, but the most convenient to shoot. Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
I second it for Sean Little and Jamie Dodson. Haven't trained with Dan Newberry, but communicated with him, and am impressed. Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Rem 700 tips/tricks/advice for a new LR shooter? - Make sure you have a good scope and calibrate it. - Get somebody knowledgeable to adjust your factory trigger. At this stage is plenty good enough. - Get a cheek pad, also known as stock comb rising kit. - Do a lot of dry firing. - Attend...
All of my rifles (all calibers) are zeroed at 100 meters. ELR rifle has a 40-MOA base. No problem with reaching far, other than operator errors. Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Yes, certainly. Many reported that Magnetospeed would shift the POI, and it is highly unlikely that one can repeatedly mount Magnetospeed in such a way as to keep the POI the same between the sessions. So what? You are not zeroing the rifle with it, are you? You're just shooting for the groups...
In my understanding, load development is finding the best-grouping load. Thus, if the POI shift is consistent (e.g., every shot is 1" down and 1/2" left), why would it affect the group size and therefore the development?
Assuming that the POI shift is consistent (and why shouldn't it be?), it shouldn't affect the grouping - which in my understanding is what the load development is about? Would appreciate clarification/explanation. TNX!
I zeroed my Vortex Razor 5-20x50 at 100m with the original DTA 40moa mount. So don't worry that your mount would have too much cant. IMHO it is far better to have more than less. :)
There's also Taurus Raging Bull. It can take hot rounds (the only other one to do that is Ruger Super RedHawk). Trigger us so-so, but not too bad (but definitely not the Ruger). Mouse NRA Life Member Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
I got an AICS 2.0 and am very happy with it - feels and handles great. Folding option helps. My only complaint is - it's wonderful when you get into position, but a bitch to carry to there. ;)
As an old user of Ballistic AE, I just wanted to express my appreciation of the massive work Jonathan has been putting into this amazingly wonderful program. It has been very useful to me, and I'm grateful.
The reasons are obvious. Some of them: too big to conveniently carry one can make a point that this gun could carry you instead; the ammo is too expensive and few stores sell it. :D
Only POSP and PSO scopes need shimming the base - because the way they come from the factory they may point too far up/down or to the side. Far enough that the normal zeroing procedure won't work. Some people say it's a standard OP with SVD and PSL. :(
