8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

Right back to the 338 BR which is pretty ideal in case capacity and overall length. The whole 3 in twist thing was crap from the beginning. Frank

Converting suppressor registered individual to trust

I'm not sure if you can list a trust as a recipient for NFA in a will and still get a tax free transfer. A corp would be the same as a trust for that purpose as well. I don't recall where I'd seen it but its worth looking into prior to just trying it. As far as I know you can leave NFA to a...

Converting suppressor registered individual to trust

One key thing here that will help, maybe, to understand how things move in the NFA world. The first and foremost thing is that nothing we will ever deal with is on any form. Form 1's can only be used one time for a particular NFA registration. Once registered any transfers will be done using a...

Converting suppressor registered individual to trust

You have to do actual paper forms to transfer between individuals or trusts. You have to pay the transfer tax every single time on every item unless its transferred via form 5 as unserviceable, coming from a government agency or an estate to named heir. As noted by someone earlier transfers...

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

With that bullet weight unless you're talking round nose I think I'd lean toward 1-8. That is going to be a pretty long bullet and that means faster twist for stability. You may get away with 1-9 but its going to be iffy.... Frank

    Sort out my 300blk

If you're expecting a 1 moa or better result with the subs you're smokin crack. There are so many things that will affect your accuracy that perfection is required on all of them. Neck tension, powder charge, position and place in the firing order and so on. All of those will affect the...

    Sort out my 300blk

You may find the 1680 works a lot better than the lil-gun but if not your gas port may need to be opened up. Subs are hard to get working without having issues with the supers. An adjustable gas block with a larger port gives you a lot more leeway with loadings. Also adding a suppressor will...

Just shoot and and see. If its bad then bitch out Hodgdon, if it works you're good. Not much good to worry until you've actually tried using it. Frank

    Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

New Mexico has fallen into the fiery pit of hell. The socialists took over and immediately created all sorts of bans on various firearms, carry of firearms and they're working on more. I love the country but really hate the people out there anymore. When I was growing up the state had no...

Bolt gun velocities vs gas gun velocities?

Beg or borrow a chronograph to get real actual numbers. Going by the number on the box or the website is meaningless and guessing at the difference due to barrel length is too. Someone you know has to have a chrono....real numbers get you real data, guessing gets you ? Frank

Case Separation on Peterson 6.5 CM???

You didn't say anything about what type of rifle, who built the barrel and whether or not you've checked the headspace on the rifle. If it was a new rifle or one that has been rebarreled its possible the headspace has opened up a little as the threads seat in the receiver. Also possible for...

    Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

Back in the dark ages (90s-early 2000s) we tested indy cars at Firebird in the winter. Used to listen to the drag boats making noises like nuclear explosions as they did test runs too. I was always amazed they could stop in time to avoid the beach at the south end.... Frank

8.6 Blackout accuracy and barrel twist

It seems like its just another brittenham program to copy something that works and screw it up. He and his buddy silvers copied the 30-221 or 300 whisper but changed a few things to make the supersonic loadings less inaccurate but that screwed up the subsonic accuracy. The 300 blackout isn't...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Swap mag bodies with me. I need a 2 short mags with the spacer removed or loose and have a couple of the new mags here. Having removed the spacer from a couple these are pretty damn tight. Frank

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Recoil is a very subjective thing. I ran a 33XC for quite a while and had no issues with recoil. I had a 32" barrel that was fairly heavy along with a suppressor and the normal SRS setup. I think overall weight was about 19 lb. My 338 Lapua Mag setup is a 30" barrel and once again I have no...

Could reduced loads cause premature carbon rings?

Shoot the damn rifle with the bullets you're planning to run. No problems with different jacket materials messing with things, no issues with worry about changes in charge and silly details and so on. What do you lose by spending an extra couple bucks for bullets and powder? You learn your rifle...

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

I ran the 265gr Cutting Edge Lazers in my 33. I was running 123gr of RL 33 and getting about 3180 in a 30" barrel. They were accurate and seated with the seal band at the case mouth. I tried seating them out but hitting the lands was not reasonable to do. Twist rate on the Schneider barrel was...

    Pistol cartridge info

Your bullets may be the issue with the seating depth. There can be variations in the shape of the nose and the actual contact point on the bullet. All of them are not being made by the same machine and while bullet makers are really good there are still variations from machine to machine...

What drives lot to lot variation performance in a 22LR?

The priming compound by itself is sufficient to spit the bullet out. It is also very difficult to keep the amount of this compound and its location consistent from round to round. If you pull a number of bullets and dump the powder you'll be able to see some cases with the priming compound where...
