Given the price range and the use case calling for an illuminated reticle, I am surprised that Ilya didn't recommend the $1500 Element Nexus. Same weight as the non-illuminated Bushnell at 28 oz. and from Ilyas reviews, best in class combination of glass quality, reticle design, and turret...
$899.99 I have no experience with this scope, so I don't know if this is a good buy or not, but it looks like it is a significant discount so I figured I'd let people know. It has the SR-1 reticle, FFP, Japanese glass, weighs 20.1 ounces.

Add me to the list, although I do now have a PST 2.5-10x32 coming to tide me over, thanks for that recommendation. As for a direct to consumer brand, I think this should be the next optic in the MPO line, hopefully Brownell's will get you to design the reticle and make the warranty transferable...
