I have a DPMS LR 308 and replaced trigger (geissele) and stock to a Magpul PRS and it loved my handloads with 168gr AMAX bullets. Definitely within 1 MOA all day
I use RCBS SB dies for my DPMS and also a Lee factory crimp. Had regular FL size dies first but was having issues. Since going to SB dies, no issues. I pretty much use Lee FC dies on 90% of loads I do. Just gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.
I have used LC match and Rem brass and could not tell much difference in my reloads. Unless you are shooting benchrest for max precision, I don't see the need to spend $ on the Lapua.
I am heading out to buy a chrono on Monday but was wondering if anyone could possibly give me a ballpark speed (fps) for my load. 308, 44gr varget, 168 gr Amax loaded to mag length. Rifle is a DPMS LR308 with 24" bull barrel 1:10 twist.
I've got a DPMS LR-308 with 24" 1:10 barrel. It loves the 168 gr AMAX bullets with 44 grains of Varget. I am going to be taking a long range shooting course and they told me I need to drop the 168's and go up to a heavier bullet for the over 800 yd targets. Course is 200 yds to 1050yds. So...
now I am opposite, 5:11 pants (which I got at Cabelas very cheap) fit me great. Nothing at Old Navy fits me at all. I am 5'9 and 190. Being shorter with an athletic frame is a pain in the arse sometimes too.
I have a Daniel Defense lightweight V7 and want to add a thumb rest to it. I would rather not use one of the rail adapters. Does anyone make a thumb rest that can attach to one of the holes on the v7 forend?
they already shipped a new one out to me before I even boxed this one back up. they tried to give me $35 off and keep this one but I said no way. I am surprised they would shrink wrap a demo scope and send it out.
Just unboxed/unwrapped this VX-R about 5 minutes ago. Look at the warn areas. Magnification ring felt a little grainy too. Cabelas already sent a new one out to me. I am boxing this one back up now.
I was going to recommend the Leupold VX-R series as well. They come in 1.25-4; 2-7 and 3-9 power. With discounts, you can find them in the $450 range. They have the firedot reticle but full reticle is visible without battery.
I know it is calibrated for 30 cal but was curious if anyone is running it on a 223/5.56 rifle. I like the capped turrets over the VX-R Patrol and it is $100 cheaper. Thanks in advance.
