    280 Ackley Improved loads

Re: 280 Ackley Improved loads Loaded up some H4831SC last night and hit the range, also used F210M primers. Someone suggested I make my zero at 300 yards as the bergers don't stabilize until farther out. My best group of 4 shots were all in a 6" target, not happy at all. They were pushing...

I have a custom 280AI, it has a 26" douglas barrel, 1-9 twist, 700ADL action, jewell trigger. I am shooting 168gr bergers. I can't quite get a very good group at 200 yards. I have tried H4831SC, H1000 and MagPro. Any input that might help me out.?

    280AI-bullet & powder advice

Re: 280AI-bullet & powder advice For what little I was able to try out my gun, the H4831SC with winchester large rifle primers and 140gr accubonds were pretty awesome. Then I moved up to the 162gr amaxes with H1000 and at 200 yards I could cover a 4 shot group with a quarter. I hear alot...

    280AI-bullet & powder advice

Re: 280AI-bullet & powder advice I never used H4831SC for the 162gr A-Maxes, but did get good results from H1000, at 200 yards a quarter would cover 4 shots, speed wise I was getting about 2950fps. I get nervous when I hear people say those bullets are not any good for hunting. I have not...

    2 sided question- 280AI & powders

Re: 2 sided question- 280AI & powders Thanks guys. I grew up on the Oregon coast and use to shoot a 7mm, this was long before the short mags or the ultra mags. My friends father was a reloader and his pet load for the 7mm was a hornady 162 BTSP, 67gr IMR 4831 and CCI large rifle magnum...

    2 sided question- 280AI & powders

I got rid of my 300RUM for health reasons and fell into a sweet deal on a cutom 280 AI, it came with some brass and a set of Lee dies. For some reason the re-sizer die is scratching the heck out of my cases so that gives me a good excuse to get the redding dies I want. If anyone has any good...

    300 saum loads please

Re: 300 saum loads please My personal opinion is the bullets you are wanting to shoot are a tad too heavy for the 300SAUM, now if you were shooting the 300 WSM that would be a different story. The heaviest I would shoot is 175-180, but they really like 150-168 bullets. Varget powder is a...

    .300 rum

Re: .300 rum I can attest to barrel life, I got about 1200 rounds outta mine and my barrel is toast. I have a quote from Kirby about rechambering it to a 338 edge. But I think I am going to stay with the 300RUM and move up to a 28-30 inch barrel. I have a great load so I just need to come...
