    Leica 2800.com sleep mode aggravation

Seriously? Yeah they need to fix that. Didn't see this until now after the MDT Steel Challenge this last weekend. Would have helped. At least on day 2. Day 1 the rain crushed me for other reasons. *rolleyes*

    Leica 2800.com sleep mode aggravation

Yeah expectation management is a fact of life isn't it? :) My main use case is quickly setting up target cards at a match. It's certainly a survivable annoyance to have to kick the thing back in sync with the Kestrel at each stage. I'd still be curious to know if anyone had problems getting...

    Leica 2800.com sleep mode aggravation

Curious if there's been any news on this issue. I'm having issues keeping my 2800.com connected. As reported above I can "force" it in the kestrel and that seems to be the best workaround. The sleep timeout on the 2800 is really damn short so this is annoying. I have also been completely...

Gunsmithing Chambering problem with the 224 95gn SMK

Just to follow up. Since Sierra says these bullets are to spec I ended up working with Dave Kiff to get a .2247 throat reamer to give me .0002" on each side of the free bore accounting for his tolerance on the reamer. Set it back and cut a new chamber and this reamer works perfect. So now...

Gunsmithing Chambering problem with the 224 95gn SMK

Thanks for checking yours. The 80/88's would probably shoot fine in this chamber. The 90's would be tight but probably still shoot. Yeah .0002 on either side, or total of .0004 over bullet diameter is what Dave at PT&G recommends minimum for a throat. Maybe could go tighter on a bench...

Gunsmithing Chambering problem with the 224 95gn SMK

FWIW Sierra got back to me today and said the tolerance spec on the 95g SMKs is .2242-.2244. So I could be off a tenth in my mic but in any case they require a throat/lead that is larger than my reamer print to have proper clearance. I will have to order a larger diameter throat reamer...

Gunsmithing Chambering problem with the 224 95gn SMK

I'm working up a 22 Dasher with the PT&G print for the Norma 1.600 brass (6 Dasher necked down). Also picked up a throater as I intended to set the freebore for the 224 95gn SMK. Problem I ran into: The reamer print says the throat is .2243. The Sierra 95s are measuring out at .2244 to...

    Ballistic FTE Update problems?

Re: Ballistic FTE Update problems? I posted earlier I'm using an older 1st gen iPhone and emailed Jonathan about the broken update. Got an email reply today: "Compatibility will be fixed in 2.5.1. Sorry for the inconvenience." That's definitely reassuring. I like this app a lot. -d

    Ballistic FTE Update problems?

Re: Ballistic FTE Update problems? Hope I'm not hijacking here, slightly different but same basic problem. I'm still using a 1st gen iPhone. Yeah, I know I'm supposed to pay the Apple and ATT tax and get the shiny new one. Well this one still works, if software developers would still...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 Ah I did misunderstand that Grump. I'll give that test a run just for fun. I think you're right though both powders in this range are giving me fair results (for my skill). Yes I was getting a bit fatigued on that last test. By the time I got...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 Ran your test Grump. 4 highest loads + 1 load in the middle of that range. Btw, you are right I like data and I like to understand it. I really want to get where I can see improvements in the data so I know something is actually improving when I...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 ewoaf thanks, I've read that. Very interesting. I saw 42.2g 4064 for the 175 smk being proposed. Estimating from my earlier tests 42.2g of 4064 in this Lapua brass, 210M and my tube would be about 2570fps. I'm hoping to find an accurate load...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 Ran this again yesterday with both powders and tried to narrow down to a range of powder charges that made sense from the first test. Used 5 shot strings this time. Images of groups attached. Forgot to annotate, this is all at 100 yards. To my...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 werks: about 600ft. This was virgin Lapua as well. I plan to shoot the test with Varget again this weekend and see if I get the same result. Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll see if I can get pics of the groups posted.

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Re: 308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064 Grump: All 20 groups were pretty much under an inch. In both powders the higher velocities (2600 or above) produced tighter groups than the slower velocities. That is consistent with what I've read about .308s liking near 100% loads. Several of...

308 OCW test 175 SMK Varget vs IMR 4064

Relatively new to the forum. Please excuse me if I'm not getting pics in correctly or something. Ran an OCW test yesterday to compare Varget with 4064 on Lapua brass, Fed 210M & SMK 175s out of a stock Rem 700 SS 5r 24". Learned about the test here: OCW Load Development First time trying...
