    First Spotting Scope Recommendations

I use a Zen-Ray 20-60x82 spotting scope. That was an upgrade from my $500 Vortex spotter. Unlike binoculars, there is a huge difference between sub $500 spotter and higher end spotter. My old spotter can only see clearly at 35x or lower. But the new one can push me all the way to 60x on a clear...

    Max magnification for a spotter?

my 82mm ZEN ED2 spotter can push all the way to 60x during a cool, clear day. Once temperature rises up, the heat wave in the environment gets magnified too. So 45-50x is more of a common range

Spotting scope 600 to 1000 yards

I have used Kowa TSN885 and Zen-Ray ED2 at 60x. NOne of them can pick up a bullet hole at 800 yards. It probably exceeds the optical resolution of the spotting scope. One of my astronomy friend told me that I need a 10 inch telescope to see that.

Maybe tried Vortex razor 30x eyepiece. I bought is for my ZEN ED2 spotting scope. It is interchangeable with Zen-Ray spotting scope body. From what I read, Razor, Zen-Ray and Swarovski eyepieces are all interchangeable. Zen-Ray PRIME HD 20-60x82 Angled Spotting Scope Vortex Razor HD 30x...

Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

I have tried Vortex Razor spotter. I liked it. I ended up getting the Zen-Ray ZEN ED2 spotter. It is almost identical to the Vortex Razor. I even bought a 30x tactical eyepiece from Vortex to go with my ED2 spotter.

    spotting scope pricing/quality question

Re: spotting scope pricing/quality question I have been using a Zen ED2 spotting scope for over a year. It is about $1200. I have compared to Kowa and Swarovski. Yes, they are slightly better, but not much. It is the same build as Vortex Razor so I can actually mount 30X Razor reticled EP to...

    Vortex spotters

Re: Vortex spotters I have used Vortex Razor. It's a very nice spotting scope. It has Mg metal body. Viper is no comparison to Razor. Too much color fringing at the edge field of view. It's also fragile with plastic body. If your budget allows, definitely go get the Razor HD. Another option...
